When KWP stayed, I thought that Bree/Manning would be loaned out. Larios coming back from injury might have kept him here, but I'd not have been surprised for him to be loaned either. Leaving a group of KWP, Sugawara, Manning/Bree, Taylor and Stephens (in a pinch). Like Edozie, the arrival of Cornet and Fraser limits SAA minutes. When he can clearly push on. The bloated squad was a hurdle Martin was glad to see the back off last season. Shame we're stuck with it for this one, unless a few move on at the end of the window.

I'm reading it as loyal to the players he felt worked best in his system, to get us promotion. He's tried them at the start, but performances mean changes. To get results and from seeing others in training. He'll be torn between thinking he's close with the current team, and seeing others deserving opportunities. He has started players he feels are immediate upgrades, such as Ramsdale. Others might be less clear cut initially, but look to be more effective, like Fernandes. Some of the issues are old ones. Stephens would often negate Will's influence. Will would be asked to a different role less effectively. AA might want to be central, but is better wider for us. Although not with him wide and no one in the middle.

And that's when we will spring our trap! Well, hand the trap about a bit, try it out in a few positions, drop it when running into Stephens...but then spring it! 🙂

How much simpler to overthrow capitalist structures when you own them! Don't be deflected from their long term goals! 🙂

I know. I'd have put Bixente Lizarazu at left back too.

We interview Mark from Cagliari. H&W: So Mark, what is the secret of your 109 years? Mark: Lots of wine. Lots and lots. Just to blot out most of those years. H&W: Yet you are so active! Mark: Always get given salad. Never enough. I have to get up all the time to go to the fridge. 15000 steps a day, just doing that. H&W: But so much to enjoy here! Mark: I'd trade it all for a couple of good box sets. H&W: Has being a Sardine held you back in any way? Mark: That's a different thing ... (reaches for more wine)... idiot...

I guess the bare minimum of what we would have been looking for, even with amortisation. Such a waste all round. But could have been worse.

I think they'll redo their leadership election for a candidate with those values. 🙂

Tough for Bednarek, who is now too advanced in his ability to control games, for anyone else on the pitch. 🙂

Just glad that SR's signing of free agents Shearer and Sutton away from the BBC, wasn't in vain. 🙂

Burnley is a good point. I was thinking they were modelling themselves as Manchester City-lite. To the extent of getting some of their breakout talent, playing within similar systems and looking to either sell them back to City (who had buy out clauses) or to other clubs, also looking to emulated them, at a high level. Add in some left field, data driven signings, while driving down individual wages to increase sell on potential and profit. I agree on the club philosophies for nearly everyone. In Quarter 4 of 2022, the Beeb said (apart from Gerard leaving Villa), PL tenure was 734 days. Across the 92 clubs (91, for that Villa reason) it was 537 days. At the time. Klopp was pushing that average up. Only the longest serving managers, get to be part of building a club philosophy. Some do try to find a similar manager to get more out of the same players. The majority just move on to the next manager who they are impressed enough by, to take a punt on. Despite all the talk of "projects"

My memory tells me Hoddle tried it in a pre season match. We were rubbish, and he binned it.

I remember n ale festival I was at for 3 evenings. On the second one, there was an orange blossom specialty one. That was me, until it ran out. Very much because I'd not being likely to see it again soon, like you said.
