2nd match tournament football, following a first match win. Don't get carried away, make sure every move forward is built from a solid defence if you lose it, even if it allows the opponent to regain their shape. Exploit any obvious gaps in the opponent if they look to over extend. Don't lose the game, taking a solid 4 points into game 3 against a team desperate to win. USA worked hard, had more and better attacks, while not leaving themselves exposed. So, a safe draw for England and a point gained for USA against the group favourites. Edit: While the timing may have been a little (very) late, the subs were the right choices too.

Good point. I did notice Alex Scott be more prepared than her colleagues to face these issues. So points for that. Some might be disappointed that she said not going would have been the easy option, then deflecting the point without giving any reasons why that might be the case. But these are some of the pitfalls facing our brave broadcasters as they face down infringements on human rights.

I've not been following closel, but has the strongest human rights message turned out to be from the Iranian players not singing their anthem? I saw that England's knee taking looked to be rushed, as the ref was going ahead with the match whether they were on their knees or not.

Isn't there a yellow card amnesty after the quarters? So anyone who hasn't picked up a booking can wear a rainbow t-shirt after the match, and it should be wiped. 🙂 I did read that England were threatened with a number of sanctions if they didn't comply. But can't imagine how they'd impact games.
