Selling your top scorer mid season and replacing him with a striker yet to find the net this season. Can’t make it up.

I think you’re missing my point. If we are selling a guy that can score goals in this league (AA has scored whilst playing up top on his own) then you need to replace him with better, not a guy with no goals all season and whose only decent goal scoring record is in a largely irrelevant league. I’d prefer a more physical striker but not if that physical striker can’t score…

No. There hasn’t been a 16 game stretch, since he joined the club, where Stewart has stayed fit.

We’ve played some of our best football this season with Arma as the lone striker so not sure it’s right to say he can’t play that role. Stewart, if fit, is the best striker at the club IMO but we all know he will break down in a couple of games time. I’m all for a more physical striker but this guy sounds pretty low quality…if you’re going to lose Arma’s goal threat then you need to replace it from somewhere else and doesn’t sound like Larin has many goals in him at all.

This reminds me of when the Forum convinced itself Guido Carrillo had a decent goal record for Monaco as he made so many sub appearances. He turned out crap, could see it coming a mile off, same here.

We are 7 points off the playoffs with a lot of football to go. To write off the season at this point and assume that the best we can do, after selling the league’s top scorer to a potential rival next season, is loan in a striker with no goals this season is a bit of a joke. Concerning if that’s the attitude the ownership is taking.

Has he got a decent enough record? 10 in 67 appearances for Mallorca is hardly great. He’s most prolific spell was in the MLS with Orlando and that’s hardly a comparable standard. SR are incapable of buying a decent striker.

This season is done, they won’t sack him now. If he’s in charge next year it’ll be another mediocre season.

Pair that with the fact that Downs being “good” was a pretty big stretch at the time. He’s been laughably bad which nobody predicted but even best case nobody was expecting him to come in and score enough goals to promote us. He’s a project, probably an unsalvagable one at this point, and it was obvious he wasn’t enough on his own. The fact he was a Spors priority signing speaks volumes.

Agree. This whole attitude of “there’s nobody better than Tonda available to us” is utter nonsense.

Let’s be honest, did anyone expect we’d get anyone decent? Whoever was going to fill this role would have been supporting 32 year old with no experience who likely won’t be here past the end of this season. It’s hardly an enticing job is it?
