  1. Good to see this. Will be interesting to see where he fits into the midfield. Is he competing with Charles/Downes or Alcaraz/StuArmstrong?
  2. Given that there's no topic for this yet I'm going to put my perfect match day thread record on the line. We've had a decent start, unbeaten in the league but will the end of the transfer window see a vastly reduced side or will we continue to compete? Can we get a clean sheet? Will we finally sign a striker? Beginning of a tricky sequence of Sunderland, Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds which should go a long way to answering whether we're getting promoted straight back up. Bazunu KWP Bednarek Holgate Manning Charles Downes Edozie Alcaraz Fraser AArmstrong Given our current run of results I can only predict a 2-1 win. Can see Alcaraz getting on the scoresheet and AArmstrong to continue his goal beastery.
  3. I could see myself saying that, yes.
  4. I would hope we'd learned our lesson about recruiting from Genk. Paintsil has end of window panic buy written all over him. Particularly if we see it as a way of recovering some of the money we splashed on Onuachu.
  5. He could. I would love "could be brilliant" to turn into "is brilliant". Both he and Sam Edozie deserved more minutes last season and a run in the side to establish themselves.
  6. I'd include Diallo in that list plus Bree, Lyanco and Sulemana as well. I stated that the VVD purchase was something that had been linked for a while. Koeman did come in with his own list of players he wanted. Or at the very least we had plans in place or a combination of the two. That window was somewhat miraculous after we were gutted bringing in Pelle, Mane, Soares, Bertrand, Tadic, Forster, Alderweireld , Long and Gardos - nearly all of whom had a big impact in our golden period. I don't remember us missing out on a string of targets for the same position. This time I'm hopeful that we'd walk away rather than panic buy someone but I also had high hopes in the January transfer window.
  7. I guess it depends on your definition of panic buy. How would you describe it?
  8. VVD had been lined up for ages. Mane joined on 1st September though not sure how much of a panic buy it was because Koeman clearly had a list of targets in mind when he joined.
  9. Fairer to say all our expensive last minute panic buys have been fails. The only one who might break that sequence is Sulemana and the jury is still out there.
  10. Are you sure that was Stephens? He went off after 25 minutes. We didn't score until the 30th. They didn't threaten until they scored shortly after.
  11. Now FFS can we defend
  12. Lovely goal
  13. Lucky lucky lucky
  14. Edozie!
  15. Downes on for Stephens
  16. Patrick Swayze taking a chance to talk to his players there with Stephens down
  17. Leicester in front against Rotherham
  18. Bednarek got away with one there
  19. He's going to score today.
  20. Would have loved to have seen Ballard on the bench. Centre forward options are just AArmstrong and Mara. Hopefully Downes can get some minutes and excited to see what Sam A-A can do over the 90.
  21. If ABK was fit I'm pretty sure Bednarek wouldn't be starting.
  22. I really like the Charles Downes Alcaraz setup in midfield. Gives us a decent base and Charly can maraud further forward
  23. I remember how happy we were shipping Stephens and Bednarek out on loan last season. That they are now our first choice pair and we have to pray they don't get injured because Lyanco should indicate the potential to strengthen in this position. Not recruiting a better centre back because it might piss off Bednarek could be construed as an act of self harm.
  24. Less than 1% of reported rapes result in a conviction. Not being convicted doesn't mean you didn't do it. Things we do know: - He verbally threatened his girlfriend. Verbal abuse is still a form of violence. - His girlfriend was beaten up. No other suspects are known for this. - He told her he didn't care if she wasn't interested in sex because he was going to have it anyway. So at the very least he made the threat of rape. - One of the conditions of his bail was no contact with his alleged victim. - Yet somehow she got pregnant with his child as she gave birth to in in June/July. - While pregnant a key witness withdrew their cooperation leading to the case being dropped due to no chance of a conviction. There really only was one key witness. - His statement shows zero contrition. At the very least he showed contempt of court in breaching the terms of his bail and witness tampering. So should be in jail for that if nothing else. So, technically you're right. He hasn't been convicted but what we do know is sufficiently damning to suggest he's a pretty unpleasant human being that any club should want nothing to do with.
  25. I'm still hoping ABK stays otherwise I'm hoping for Vytner and Harewood-Bellis. Agree about the striker. Despite 3 in 3 I'm not convinced by Armstrong. Worrying there doesn't seem to be a concrete link. Not really keen on that Genk winger. Would love McAtee but suspect he's beyond us.
