No sense either of them walking without company. When you're part of this kind of hard luck story a comforting ear is always helpful.
-
Yup you need another 3 or 4 wingers.
-
I'm sure they're putting up posters as we speak.

£15m plus another £5m muppet tax now I think. Their chairman can stick some debt on the club and it'll make his daughter happy.

Rumour has it Liverpool want to get the Lavia deal done quickly. Lol. Obviously code for "we expect Saints to fold quickly"
-
But I thought Liverpool had entered another period of dominance. The collective pressgasm after they won the league seemed to suggest so anyway.

West Ham have allegedly pulled out of signing JWP. Who was the most advanced of their lowball targets this window. I would hope they get no one but a more fitting piece of karma might be for them to get rinsed by Man Utd for Maguire and McTominay
-
If Sheff Wed have watched our preseason they'll be pressing us hard from the kickoff to force a mistake. That might leave them open to a cheeky ball over the top. Can see us dominating possession and losing 3-1. But I'm going for 3-1 to us.

You can take the Burnley out of the Championship but....
-
Fucking hell, that's moving. I can barely type through the tears. We should just send Burnley Tella on a free.
-
Some decent passing. Should've had a penalty but lacking in intensity and the more the game went on the less likely it felt we'd score.

Bezos is clearly a fullback and Obama's legs have gone.

Lyanco would've been off for that in the league
-
That was a bit two footed
-
How is that not a pen?
-
That would indicate a new keeper. Please let it be so. Amen to Lyanco.
-
Is there a style that suits our defenders?
-
I don't think it's a matter of geography. West Ham fans are the same about JWP
-
If Sulemena is injured we're unlikely to offload him in this window.

I applaud any city that boycotts the Sun but your logic is flawed. Just because there's a book evangelising about how amazing Merseyside is does not invalidate the lived experience other people have had with the city.

Jones decided to give the players two weeks off during the World Cup break rather than start working with them. So far I've been impressed but that may be down to my desperate need to believe that our current manager is the answer. Our defending is still not great to say the least but at least we may have a cutting edge. Don't think I could watch another season like last one of dour football.

What will our starting 11 look like vs Sheffield Wednesday?

Given last seasons' sentiment - a surprising number of us are backing Adam Armstrong to be the main striker next week. -

Bazunu Livramento Bednarek Stephens Manning Smallbone Charles Tella Alcaraz Edozie A Armstrong -
From the last two friendlies... Assuming JWP and Lavia go I'm not unhappy with Charles and Smallbone in central midfield. AArmstrong looks more potent than Che up front. But a striker would make a big difference. Keeper is a concern. Manning improves us at left back. If we keep one of Tino or KWP then right back looks good. Less sure about Bree. Charly and SArmstrong can run the show in attacking midfield in the middle. Tella, Edozie and Sam Amo-Ameyaw look good out wide. Sulemana too if he stays and his head is interested. Centre back is a concern especially given the likely departures of ABK, Lyanco and Salisu. Though equal concern if they stayed. I guess Bednarek and Stephens look most likely here. So, if we can move some people on then a striker, cover for midfield and another centre back out outfield players look good. Goalkeeper is a must because McCarthy can't play this system and Bazunu may not grow into it. However, for the first time in a long time there's real buzz about us going forward. Probably the first time since Koeman. Our defending is still best viewed from behind the sofa though.
