I didn't say the new players had bad attitudes. It's been claimed on the whole, the squad are a quiet lot. We've brought in a fair amount of younger players that haven't necessarily developed a voice yet. There's a good chance they're hearing negativity from the more vocal senior players, and it's permeating through the squad. As others have said, we don't have any leaders. Players that have been Captain, and at the club the longest (Stephens, Armstrong, McCarthy) I can't see being the ones to command respect, dish out bollockings and show leadership when needed.

Is it actually all down to him though? Mads was saying that players aren't doing what they're asked to do, needing to look each other in the eye and be honest. If the players aren't helping the manager in doing what they're being instructed on, is that on him? They didn't play for Martin towards the end, didn't play for Juric at all. (Rumours of players undermining him, and apparently the same with Still now) It can't just be managers being shit and soley the ones at fault. I personally think we potentially have too many bad apples as 'senior' players at the club, and it rubs off on the rest. Still's fighting a losing battle, as was Juric.

It's telling that it was THB, Stephens, Manning, Downes and Fraser playing the safe/crab passing. Any time we had a chance to push forward on the left, we stopped and played back. Mads and Finn were shocking, and the rest had little to go off. Must be such a fuck off to the ones that do make runs forward, because very few have the sense to play forward. Fernandes was one of the few last season to get hold of the ball, break through the lines and drive forward. We need more willingness to get forward, I can't remember the last time Downes did that. Charles I think has the stones to, but maybe he's in two minds about covering defensively, or doesn't trust Downes enough to. We've been missing a linking midfield since Martin left. It was non-existant with Juric and Rusk. Hopefully Jander can be that progressive, Schneiderlin type player we need.

Don't understand the loan of a third choice for Norwich. We SHOULD be aiming to go back up this season, if he's not good enough to challenge for a place at Norwich, how is he good enough for us? Mat Ryan is available, give him a years contract, reassess at the end of the season when McCarthy is on his way (hopefully)

Would absolutely take Romeu on a free (if we can shift some of the deadwood; Smallbone, Aribo). Bring him on late on to shore up the defence and see out a game. People have been calling for a DM to sit back break up the play, as Downes and Charles do tend to get forward. I'd also trust him to lead/influence the dressing room more than I do Stephens.

I mean the only positive I can think of, is having him as 'club captain' a-la Kelvin Davis. Limiting the damage he does on the pitch. And also keeping the homegrown quota up, if we're focussed on getting in youngsters from abroad

Played against Danny Ings for a season or two as a boy, when he was with Winchester Whites. I'd like to say he rarely scored past me ( I played GK) but memory conveniently alludes me. Met Wayne Shaw (piegate) a few times when I played for Eastleigh. He was helping out with cones and bibs and such. MLT in Sainsbury's Hedge End. Got a smile and wave from Marco Almeida during a game at the dell.
