The are no ‘easy 3 points’ in this league
-
Gave a far better account of ourselves than I thought we had any right to against a very good team. AM and GK crucial to survival.
-
Wasnt when Yuki was on ☹️
-
Archer and Dibling on
-
Better than any performance from the 22-23 season for me so far.
-
Missing a header doesn’t put you 1-0 down against 10 men. The system isn’t changing, the personnel NEED to.
-
You can’t blame Martin or the rest of the team. The game to that point was perfectly played. That’s just fucking awful from Macca. Need a new keeper NOW.
-
The dislike of Stephens in this forum borders on parody 😂

Yeah I think loan signings are going to play an more and more influential role in teams who are wanting to avoid the drop. With FFP and the like it's a shrewd business decision and smart for sustainability.
-
Based on pre-season and recruitment it feels like we're going to be running with 3 at the back and wing backs a fair chunk this season. Less concerned about a winger with thats in mind... O'Riley and a Keeper and we might surprise a few.

Quality word gazumped. You get a like just for that. Welcome big Les. Feels like there is a solid option for a double pivot now which would really help shore us up when needed. GK and a quiality AM and we can compete to stay in this league.

1-0 United deft finish from Zirkzee from a cross

Hmm.. Don’t think either team look particularly impressive. It’s been a pretty physical game though. going to take a few games before we really understand our level I think.
-
Yeah this is exactly it. He was bought for 18 Mil but paid in installments with a buyback on the provision they were relegated.
-
If we're able to pull off the O'Riley tranfer now, it would actually be transformative. BBD, Archer and Arma with MOR feeding them would be a huge upgrade on last season. I'd even suggest as it is that Smallbone's eye for a pass/assist with these three is exciting.

I get Longy vibes. A willing runner with a good turn of pace and solid finisher albeit not overly consistent.

2 loanees from Premier league clubs. I think the Broja chat is just lazy journalism. Easy link to make to create some noise. I would hope we keep that second slot open for Ramsdale if we aren’t going in for Johnstone.

One of the last bits in the Newcastle presser. I actually thought the same thing. Just based on how he reacted I suspect there is more to come there, it felt like a telling look. could also be nothing 😂 Amazing how the transfer window works eh? A couple of days ago this thread was drab and lifeless with a lot of doom posting and 48hrs later it feels like there is a lot in motion… and there is still a couple of weeks left. More loanees to arrive I feel.

Pretty sure Russ has the measure of the man better than any of us and regardless of our opinion he's the manager and the guy that he'd need to play under. Glad we've moved him on. Ultimately didn't fulfill his potential whilst here regardless of circumstance. So now we take our small profit and go again.

I guess it depends on the state of finances and squad planning to a degree. If we thought internally we had bigger priorities and perhaps GK would be covered by AM, JL and Baz then it would save a fee whilst we tackled other areas. i don’t agree with that assessment but could see that being the logic. Cheaper to tie down Mecca than bring in fresh. Hopefully his utter shite performances is preseason have set some alarm bells going and we course correct.
-
Agreed. More worrying is them not disclosing exactly what has been the setback. We’ve been snakebitten with a few real long term injuries between him Juan and Baz but players can/do recover eventually. Biggest question is what sort of player he will be when he finally does! 😬
-
If he can get himself fit he offers us something we don't really have at the moment. I think there's a player there, he's looked good in the very small cameos he's made. The whole situation is quite remeniscent of Danny Ings prior to him finding his fitness. Hopefully he comes good and stays fit.
-
We're not though are we... £18 Mil for Downes £20 Mil for THB both would've been club transfer records back then. Reality is we were relegated we don't have the funds of Brighton or Brentford. I don't think people realise how far the club fell in the last 3-4 years. We're not the same team that were regularly putting in performances against the big boys and punching above our weight into europe. We're a struggling Premiership club that's just won promotion back to the league. It hurts, but that's the fact of the matter.
-
I'm confident we'll still buy 1 or 2 too. We're not totally fucked just spending within our means.
