If this is the moment you think we’re doomed, you’ve missed a few chapters.
-
Derby we’re coming for you!
-
Fact, his stubborness in keeping Baz in nearly cost us promotion - which in hindsight probably would have been a good thing considering the horror show that followed. That season Saints and Leicester had a massive edge in terms of squad value and wages.

Countless posts on X saying the same thing. I’m not disappointed - I’m fucking fuming.

Former boss Russell Martin is the favourite to take the reins, following his sacking at Rangers last month. He lasted just 123 days at Ibrox – the shortest stint of any manager at the Scottish giants. Martin, 39, led Southampton to promotion from the Championship via the play-offs in the 2023/24 campaign. However, he was sacked in December 2024 as the Saints sat bottom of the table, and they were ultimately relegated. He came in for some criticism for refusing to change his play-out-from-the-back tactics, which contributed to their demise. However, he still has admirers at Southampton, and TEAMtalk can confirm that he is their TOP choice to replace Still, and he is open to a conversation about returning. https://www.teamtalk.com/southampton/identify-top-manager-target-will-still-sack-man-utd-legend-ex-liverpool-man Fuck off! He barely got us promoted even though we and Leicester had by far the biggest wage bills and squad values that season. He’s half the reason we’re still in this mess today.

He barely got us promoted in a two horse race (look at the wage bill for us and Leicester). ffs no way we’d do this… right???
-
Martin is the future of modern footy
-
Should we get Russell back? Tiki taka footy
-
Yeah, both. Their fans didn’t want him from day one. Imagine if these fanatics had lost 9-0 not just once but twice - their ground would’ve undoubtedly been reduced to ashes by now.
-
Abysmal, especially in a league that’s basically a two-horse race. Celtic and Rangers have absurd buying power next to the other ten clubs.
-
He’s being talked about as arguably one of the worst managers ever in Scotland, given the budget he’s had. Meanwhile, Rangers are stuck with overpriced players he picked and can’t offload - they're getting the full RM-experience.
-
They’re not fucking around up North. In comparison, here we were handing out custard creams and hugs after a 0–5 humiliation.
-
Imagine spending more than your opponents are worth, having a squad on ten times the wages - and still looking like a bunch of uncoachable school kids playing tiki-taka in a minefield
-
Agreed. Needs some more passing between the two CBs and GK.
-
Baz would’ve saved that
-
For the level, he’s got to be one of the worst managers I’ve ever seen. One predictable philosophy that never works, no adaptability, lots of errors, basically no clue - yet somehow he keeps finding a job. Incredible.
-
Rangers supporters hate him with a passion - nothing like the comfy tea club he got away with at Saints
-
I’ve never seen that, score a winner and the whole crowd tell the manager to gtfo.
-
Considering the money involved, it’s mad. Championship or not, it’s still a massive financial level, you’d think the absolute bare minimum would be not fielding donkeys in goal.

McCarthy has his howlers, but as a shot-stopper he’s acceptable at this level. Bazunu’s good with the ball at his feet, but his shot-stopping is honestly non-league. McCarthy edges it for me. -
He really is shit, but yet the better option. Tells you everything you need to know about the state of this club.

He can play, but surely not as GK? -
Have to correct you there, he 'only' has the 2nd lowest shot/save % (for now).
-
Please stop playing him, it’s pure sabotage. Every season he’s played for us, he’s been the worst GK in the league.
