With VAR there is a better control of the narrative as they can conveniently decide when to / or not to intervene. CR7 at the 2022 WC was awarded a very soft pen after VAR review, I still remember it because it made no sense that VAR would look into it - 0-0 at the time, forgot the opponent. Argentina got 5 pens, 4 were soft/dodgy. Messi continuing in the tournament drives viewership and revenue.

Best that could come from this is that he takes Bazunu with him. We nearly bottled promotion in that two-horse-race of a season were it not for Baz' injury.

In terms of goals prevented, Baz is bottom again for the fourth season running, although there is some improvement. Even though he is still the worst keeper in the league, this is actually his best season statistically, as he has conceded fewer goals than expected compared to previous years. His long pass completion% and crosses claimed are also bottom of the league. I’m not sure why some people here dismiss the stats. This is an unprecedented level of sustained underperformance in professional football.

If he ever plays for us again there should be riots. Without a doubt the worst GK that has ever played at this level.

What an unreal team after we got in a proper GK. That's pretty much been the catalyst - prior to that people here were calling for Tonda's head. Same catalyst in our previous promotion.

In the wildly optimistic scenario that we actually go up, is 12 points still the target? Or have we decided to dream bigger this time? Not sure I want another season of breaking unwanted records and providing weekly comedy for the rest of the league.

Doubt they're dumb enough to sign Bazunu after having endured Danny Ward. Would be amusing if they signed Russell Martin.
