Could see him back at Crystal Palace if/when Glasner goes, their chairman seems to like sentimental appointments too Also think he could get a good gig abroad, if he was open to living overseas. I reckon the US national team will try and see if he's interested
-
Yeah, that's right, I remember his name coming up then. Also just read on a Palace site that he was offered a new contract about six weeks ago and there's been no movement on it. They didn't let him out on loan last season because they told him they wanted him to stay and be part of their PL squad - but then only put him on eight times, so I'm guessing that's a large reason why

The Saints app is now saying that tonight's Puma event will be available to live stream - starting at 7pm...

Yeah, I think this is where I land too. Loan with some buying conditions factored in, based on goals etc, would make sense

Sky Sports saying Saints are still planning to sign an attacking midfielder and a striker, with interest in Armando Broja understood to be accurate I mean... of course, but yeah

They did but the ban couldn't come into effect until 2026-27 so that active sponsorship deals all had time to elapse first to avoid settlements and legal action
-
Sounds a bit as if someone got told the shirt sponsor is 'some gambling firm... bit, bits or something' and then someone Googled and turned 2+2 into 5 and landed on Duelbits

From The Athletic's correspondent for West Ham, Roshane Thomas: Southampton have agreed a deal worth up to £18million with West Ham United for midfielder Flynn Downes. The Athletic reported Southampton were in discussions with West Ham over a deal for Downes. Full-back Kyle Walker-Peters had been in line to move in the opposite direction, but the deal for Downes is a straight fee and Walker-Peters is not involved. The Southampton defender remains a player under consideration for West Ham this summer.

Returning on a permanent and will be a Saints player in time for the first game of pre-season. Dharmesh Sheth saying the deal is £18m and no suggestion it includes Kyle Walker-Peters. Downes travelling from Austria back to the UK and given permission to undertake a medical. Personal terms agreed a few weeks ago

Interested to see if there's a bit more detail from the designated Saints/Hammers reporters on either end, alongside Sky's report that a deal is agreed

Q: What sort of impression did you get from the manager? "I think he is a handsome guy, you know? He has a good beard and long hair. I want to be like him after the football career. I want to get some beard! But he's a very good guy. He's very kind and he told me about football things and life in Southampton. I have a good feeling with him and I can't wait to work with him."

Just watched, definitely agree. Seems like a character and could be a bit of a cult hero if he’s decent

The Athletic as a whole has gone downhill since the NYT acquired it (shock, I know) Used to love it for the way I could just read some really good, in-depth content of Saints and the teams I follow across US sports, with coverage of the wider league matters all in the same place and in a writing style I appreciated and felt was quite informative and well-pitched. But it's now so, so much worse. Only stuck with it because I went to cancel my subscription and they gave me a £1 a month renewal for the next year
