The pressure from upstairs and the obsessions over SR ‘projects’ is at the heart of why the club is failing. 2014/15 and 2015/16 were so enjoyable in part because Ronald basically told Les to fuck off when he stuck his nose in. WGS tolerated with Lowe up to a point but Rupert knew the boundaries unlike the other managers. Cortese knew the boundaries with Poch. Appy is right that we couldn’t afford Dyche now but it’s the type of no-bullshit manager needed to detoxify the whole club and keep SR at arms length so recruitment and football operations are left to the experts. Ankerson, Spors and Solak being told to keep their nose out and stump up when needed would help no end.

League 1 here we come (again).

That was bizarre. Either Still has appalling judgement or he’s wet behind the ears and told by the SR board to play Bazunu.

It appears so

Liverpool v Saints : Carabao Cup 3rd Round
Gloucester Saint replied to Patches O Houlihan's topic in The Saints
Could be a chance to go one better than 9-0. SR could really make their mark. -
It’s a bit like Barings Bank doing the same with Nick Leeson - ‘we sent him on all of those regulatory banking and ethics courses he ignored, but after the prison sentence it’ll be alright’.
-
It’s amazing how high shit can be stacked.
-
Was a good player but we’d be replacing Ross Stewart basically.
-
It’s the other end of the table if he stays - can’t even see Saints matching Luton’s points total last season at this rate. If SR fancy a crack at League 1, they should keep him by all means.
-
If SR take us down as far as the National League - if Solak really wants to rub it in on behalf of Milan Mandaric - Bazunu would still be the worst keeper in that division. Only consolation of his latest Frank Spencer display is that even Spors might actually think twice about giving the Irish Tommy Forecast a new contract.
-
Unless there is a total transformation in his performance and technique, his place in my worst ever XI is safe up front. Makes Carrillo look like Jan Koller by comparison. At least he will never get into my Saints worst ever top flight XI. Bazunu has the ‘honour’ of being in goal for both.
-
And he wasn’t even at the club when Martin was here, so why the hell is he doing that? Needs to be a bollocking from the bench and stands when the players check back like that needlessly, snap them out of it through pure fear if nothing else works. Frustrated groans aren’t cutting it

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Gloucester Saint replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
You’d never find late middle aged white graduates of Dulwich College in Reform. Nor Eton or Radley Colleges. Or from Uppingham Public School in Surrey. Oh no. Nor studying at Oxbridge. Reform are being tagged the Black Panthers in the press due to their sheer spectrum of ethnic diversity and staggering rise from comprehensive education backgrounds. -

Correct. Pity the ‘working class’ people who voted Reform (irony as many aren’t) didn’t understand that, just like they didn’t understand the Referendum. -
Because he’s an idiot.
-
Hope Gubbins is left out of the squad for Surrey and goes back to Middlesex. Disgraceful decision-making, Neil was all over them. And Currie bowling wides and Abbott/Wheal short into that surface. Will Still-level stupidity.
-
Hampshire CCC just blew a second cup final within a week to cap it off as well. And this was blown by idiot tactics, Somerset won last week’s. Whoever took the left arm spinner Neil off deserves the same P45 as Still, Stephens and Bazunu.
-
Imagine if Soggy’s grandson got a login as well?
-
Needs shipping off to the MLS as soon as their transfer window opens, although it will probably the level below that realistically.
-
Kyle Abbott has had a nightmare there and whoever decided to take Neil off who had their batters on toast for Currie (who otherwise bowled superbly) needs putting into the bomb squad and told to find a new county tomorrow. Don’t want whoever that was anywhere near the squad for the Surrey game. Wheal bowling short as well as Abbott was brainless on that surface.

We stopped even trying to stop crosses coming in under later Ralph onwards. Last week you saw it, Murphy delivering some peaches unopposed from good areas but Bishop was all over the show. The skates forced ours to be delivered from much further back by basic pressing. I said we’d concede heavily if the same happened today with better players on the end of them and we did.

A more considered article here, one of her better ones https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3e7ny8n44jo As a Lib Dem voter, I agreed with quite a bit of it. @Lord Duckhunter - at least I didn’t vote to wipe off 6% off of our economy in 2016, and support alt right acne-stricken teenagers who can’t run a bath let alone a local authority. https://www.itv.com/news/2025-09-01/reform-uk-in-power-how-have-their-councils-performed Funny how it’s a bit harder governing in practice than cutting non-existent EDI Officer posts, defacing roundabouts and putting St George flags up everywhere. -
I certainly did, sold to someone who squeaked through Skol-weak FAPP on the second or third attempt. And funnily enough Martin Semmens also in the picture when SR pitch up. Club has been pathetic for the last 8 years, and that’s being kind. Run by used car salesman and bullshitters. Don’t believe a word any of them say.

Sorry you and your son didn’t have a better experience today - hardly encouraging for our younger fans - but at least the fans gave them both barrels. In the real world if you don’t put the work rate and organisation in, customers and suppliers let you know, so no reason the wallflowers should escape.
