  1. The foul absolutely was not Matsuki, that was a different free kick, it was definitely against Charles and not at all a foul as I stated on the match thread. The officials have been predominantly against us, so far this season. It’s a trend that has been running for a few years now, not at all sure why. Archer was kept onside by the left centre back who was a good yard to yard and half behind the other centre backs and would have been clean through one-on-one, and most likely to score and at 2-0 we would have comfortably won.
  2. The idiot on Solent (Scums commentator or pundit) said that Murphy is miles better then Fellows and doesn’t understand why we didn’t go for him instead!!
  3. Exactly as I see it. The crap spoken about Bazunu when he concedes a goal, he has no chance with but because it is scored from an angle, is incredible. He isn’t the best keeper in the league but he ok for this standard. That Johansson would never have stopped the first goal today but people with an agenda against Bazunu believe he is at fault. The twat Tessem doesn’t help the situation with his dreadful punditry. Suggested Bazunu should have saved that shot and we shouldn’t make silly fouls (for the free kick they scored from) when the ref was poor again today, Charles clearly nicks the ball away from the Watford player who either dives or loses balance as a result. It’s pathetic at times how the comments are made without being sure what they’ve seen. In both this and the Stoke games we did not get the “the rub of the green” and the opponents were clinical. The ref has potentially cost us 2 points today, with the helP of the linesman who flagged Archer offside when Aziz brilliant slid him through on goal. I feel we will dominate most matches this season and will build some momentum very soon once the new signings slot in.
  4. Therefore, half the time he/they don’t. Bazunu is judged (as are many of our other players) with such a high bar. Effectively, everyone here is saying Bazunu must save everything on target otherwise he is useless, yet other keepers are given a 50/50 chance. All very Saintsy this and partly why the players feel they have to try too hard (to impress our unrealistically) to do things as the fans get on their back quicker than most other fans. Clearly it has been a frustrating last 18 months but we have a squad, with a few final pieces of the jigsaw to be added this week, to become amongst the best in this league.
  5. I was feeling a bit deflated after today’s result. Still find it difficult to comprehend how we didn’t get a positive result, we did more than enough. All the trendy people say stats are important and xG tells you a lot and that suggests we should have won 2-1. Football is made up of moments. Stoke took their chances today we had Lady Luck against us, along with poor finishing, but it happens. All of a sudden the world is falling apart because we lost a game of football. i just hope the Samaritans are adding extra resource in Southampton this week as there appear to be a good number of people on this forum who are teetering. It has brightened my evening reading it all though, so thank you all.
  6. Brian Mbueno must be shit then too! There could be a multitude of reasons Brentford got rid. Mads may have asked to be considered to leave, he is Danish as is Thomas Frank and maybe he didn’t fancy playing for, or wasn’t considered the right profile by the new manager.
  7. Is this a translation quirk, and it basically means we have made a very complicated offer for him with lots of add-ons they are not confident of receiving, or that they will take a long time to materialise
  8. Could this be why Boro didn’t sell Hackney? Maybe this deal has been quietly progressing whilst rumours of others have been in the public domain (Spertsyan)
  9. It is odd that Edwards is getting so much blame from today’s game. Yes, he conceded the penalty due to a daft decision to push Moore, but he was put in the position of having to chase him back thanks to poor decision making and play by team-mates in the lead up to the situation. He actually spent a lot of time acting as the axis to move the ball from side to side and advancing with the ball to get us up the pitch. He also won his fair share of aerial duals with Moore, who targeted him due to Quarshie’s height and size, yet for the remainder of the game did not allow Wrexham to get through the defence via Moore. He then provided a focal point on the far edge of Wrexham’s penalty area 3 or 4 times to be found with long passes and headed the ball back into the penalty area. Unfortunately, Sagawara and Quarshie had weaker games with poor passes and decisions, including Sugawara’s nothing throw in that lad to the penalty. I feel, some fans see a player make a mistake and then look for reasons to determine that player is rubbish thereafter. Fans have done this in the past with Bazunu, Stephen’s and Manning amongst others and look what happened today. A more balanced assessment of players over a number of games is always better than a snap decision on them after a frustrating mistake. We need to support all our players this season and moving forward to enable them to play with confidence and for the supporters to become the “twelfth man” often referred to.
  10. Hypo, I think you are referring to a crypto message Alfie House put on his X account which some people then commented may mean an ex Saint would be signing. That’s what I recall but if not I’m suffering with middle aged memory loss as well.
  11. This is my perception of some of our fan base. They always pick a player to dislike/ blame for everything wrong. Bazunu on yesterday’s and the 45 minutes last week is a more than good enough quality keeper for us. Stopping the player advancing as easily as Minteh did is the concern, which also think will be resolved. No one mentioned Ramsdale’s complete lack of attempt to stop the first goal by Espanol and if that has been Bazunu the forum would have gone into meltdown.
  12. Or these players are further along the transfer process than we are aware of, or the club have already set very low allowable prices to sell and this means we can simply wait until a club agrees to take these players and we do not need to negotiate (Remember Bednarek’s release clause is a bit like a reserve at auction - no matter when a club buys him it is the minimum they have to pay)
  13. I know he hasn’t quite played 40 games, but what about Fernandes? So many Saints fans seem to over simplify player ability and transfer activity, as being black and white (complete success or complete failure). A lot of sport is grey, I.e multiple factors come into play, not least with football that the collective is then attributed to the individual players within it. There are many many examples of a player looking way out of depth in one team that then become a major success once they join a different team with the magic make up and mix of that team suiting them and enabling them to perform to their standard. Other examples where a player cannot function within a different teams style and systems after being excellent in the team before. Some of our players will perform really well this coming season when they seemed a waste last season and some won’t. Only time will tell, who has the mental fortitude, skill, desire and suits Will Still’s system, but I guarantee there will be a few who surprise many of our fans, it is just that we cannot identify who they will be. This is where the manager/ coaches earn their money and will determine this over the coming weeks, hopefully filling in the gaps in the jigsaw to make us the best we can be as a team/ squad. All we can do, is continue to support our club and hope that the perfect squad makeup is achieved as early as possible within this transfer window.
  14. Although this time they will have the pressure of being the (or one of the) favourites and will they handle it. Last time they were the underdog with little pressure on them.
  15. My bother is a West Ham fan and he said this about JWP this afternoon, please please please sign him. I’d rather we kept Soucek than JWP, who is such a poor technical midfielder. We spent a whole season watching his ineffectual passing, always passed either sideways or backwards, never took the ball on the turn ready to drive or pass forward!! Sound familiar.
