Who cares about rules ? and come January, I’m sure the board would give it a big transfer kitty to help. plus actually I have two cats, they like to bring their own “ people”, so the coaching side would be fine.

The club has been punished hard. the rules that the FA charged him with are the exact same ones that Leeds didn’t even get charged under. It is entirely reasonable to suggest that further punishment should be limited to a token gesture that makes the point that individuals are responsible for their actions. Punishment and deterrence for our rule breaking have been satisfied.

I agree with you. Plenty of players will plan to dive if they feel a touch . Whether that is premeditated is a question of semantics. Same as turning up to an opposition training ground with the intention of photographing if they get an opportunity, but not knowing for sure that they will.

SFC and all the individuals concerned have suffered significant penalties, and of course the EFL operates under the FA. I get that the FA felt that they needed to investigate individuals ,( why only TE BTW ) and snails pace apparently being appropriate, but unless they turned up something really serious in terms of bullying or further club rule breaking , and given the Bielsa precedent ( charges not brought even for a whole season of the same offence) there is no justification whatsoever for further significant punishment. A heavy slap on the wrist is the most that should happen, not least because the deterrent to other clubs is now well understood. If the club felt that TE had been punished far enough ( by the EFL sanctions and any internal sanctions) for his involvement, they were well within their rights not to sack him just because there was an entirely unjustified FA threat hanging over them and him. And they would have been right to take that stand in those circumstances.

They would effectively have had to given us a 10 point deduction for it to affect Wrexham positively , though I agree it was odd they way the decision to reinstate boro went through apparently on the nod.And the actual games for which we were charged yielded us 1 point plus a mitigated 6 point penalty.

You might think that finance would have a spreadsheet that runs to and includes the 2027/28 season....... At least we will have paid for 25% of Dobbin by then. Phew.

Exactly. Disappointing that the press haven't picked up on this aspect as much as they should have.

Especially when gibson specifically asked for a sporting sanction ( not that it is his business to be involved ) and we had two and a financial penalty in that we lost a minimum of the playoff final receipts. and the deterrent function is clear enough from our punishments.

Well they were damned if they do etc.Maybe they didn't have grounds to sack him with the inevitable compensation and hoped , perhaps reasonably, that the FA punishment would be a slap on the wrist given the previous sanctions. None of us know. Maybe they should have kept their eye on the ball, sacked TE anyway, kept Archer and not blown £9m on Dobbin, to help pay for the compensation

The board were well within their rights not to sack him.Whether they should have is another thing. There is a case for a small punishment for the FA to make the point about Tonda's personal responsibility , but the punishments handed out have been more than adequate punishment for all concerned.They have affected TE very significantly. The deterrent effect is clear. Bielsa got off with a slap on the wrist.

He hasn't personally been reprimanded, but has in fact suffered significant punishment with loss of bonuses, and the chance to manage in the PL. We have had the sporting sanctions demanded , a financial loss from the playoff final, and the deterrent effect is clear. There is no justification at all for further significant punishment..

One thing that would be odd about a further heavy punishment is that the EFL handed out two Sporting Sanctions ( as demanded by gibson ) .Given the Bielsa precedents ,the financial loss of at a minimum the gate money from the playoff final, and the very clear deterrent that has been put in place to other clubs, a further heavy punishment is simply a rather nasty bit of retribution.

I wouldn't call it entrapment, but they knew it was likely to happen, allowed it to happen,and milked it for all it was worth in a trial by media run by their connections. We committed the offence , they really didn't behave terribly well.

Matsuki was exceptional today I thought. Must be a mangers dream. And his goal was just a lovely piece of football. if we can just get a few clean sheets the away wins will come. The goals we are scoring are so classy ATM.

Well made points. We are going to used his various attributes however we best can, and I expect that quite often to be in a deeper role. The point of my post was about general state of finances and the squad. But in any case they are both versatile goal scoring CMs, one with huge potential, one with huge experience and proven PL quality.

JWP has played a variety of midfield roles many times at PL level. I wish we still had SC, but JWP should give us an enormous amount of quality and versatility.

The money situation is doubtless very tight, especially as we have no megabuck sales this summer. It will be very tight for any team on final year parachute payments. The owners would be remiss if they weren’t factoring in the need to try to have a top 6 level side next season if we do miss out this season, which is certainly possible. TBH , given the above, replacing SC with JWP( which if he stays fit is a very decent swap IMO) , investing a lot of money on Dobbin, getting a seasoned Bundesliga replacement for THB , signing an expensive keeper, and not losing any other stars whilst making some decent profits player on trading is about as good as it was going to get .
