The optimist in me thinks it could be a bit like the game at Tottenham in late 1977. IIRC we had a depleted team ( Nicholl and Peach injured perhaps, Ossie had departed I think ) but got a vital 0-0 draw in what was a really big game. Spurs had a very decent side out that day including Hoddle, Perryman, Peter Taylor etc. same again would be fine.

I wonder what Tonda sees that makes him think that Leo should be anywhere other than wide left. He looked so much more dangerous when he moved there towards the end. And we almost always look better when Matsuki plays. against a team as limited as Bolton were, it is hard to see why you would do more than minor tweaks to the tried and tested system. The first half set up just seemed bizarre. But that said, we still created enough to win two games.

Sensible to use it while it is there. The triple lock was always going to go sooner or later, ( and inevitably has to) I just don't think it is an urgent issue. And it has been weaponised. I wonder how they could usefully restrict rather than abolish higher rate relief, allowing a bit of higher rate relief for moderately high earners (those on say £50 to £75K) . Would an annual cash limit on relief be the easiest way ?

The triple lock is not the huge problem it has been painted , certainly not in the next few years. It will need reform at some point though. Higher rate relief on pension contributions is a subsidy for the better off. It needs reducing seriously, or abolishing, as the costs are enormous and growing quickly due in part to fiscal drag.
