  1. I've not seen Bree have as difficult a game this season as he did tonight. Philogene and Clarke really tested him all game. I can't remember Clarke doing well in the Premier League last season so he might be like Armstrong in being too good for the Championship but not good enough for the Premier League. It was a very even game but I think Ipswich edged it as we completely ran out of energy. It's pretty obvious that Middlesbrough will be our first opponents in the playoffs, shame they're about as far away as can be to travel to!
  2. If we beat Ipswich by 1 goal then we'll be above Middlesbrough on goals scored going into the last game
  3. Their next game is against Oxford Utd which could be interesting because, as you said SW won't want to end on minus points and Oxford Utd would look more winnable than West Brom (their final game) but Oxford Utd HAVE to win to avoid relegation (as well as Charlton losing against Hull). So they'll probably both really be going for it. Then again I've just noticed the Charlton game is at 12:30, so Oxford could be relegated by then anyway!

    Adam Armstrong

Take this with the huge pinch of salt it probably needs as it comes from Will Still->Contact of Will Still->My brother's friend-> My brother-> me, but apparently Adam was bullying Damion Downs and was reminding him of his miss against Wrexham at every opportunity and was just generally a nasty person to be around.
  5. If they win on 22/3 in the League Cup final they'll still be on for the quadruple which may give them reason to go for it even more 😬
  6. So who are the five we'll have take penalties if we get there? Azaz, jelert, Manning maybe otherwise it's kids or cbs
  7. Absolute cinema.
  8. They talk about us buying our history, but they're the ones who bought the team to win an FA cup with money they didn't have.
  9. Maybe if Charlton go down to ten men they might have a chance eh Nathan 😉
  10. Whoever we get it has to be a case of them walking into the club and all the players being like 'I really want to play for this guy and really believe in his tactics'. You'd think being professional and giving your all every game should be a given, but it's obviously not as seen whenever a player is trying to force a move through to another team. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the players at the end of last season would much rather have moved on, but there's obviously a limit to how many players you can sell in one window so we're stuck with a bunch of players who are just phoning it in until the end of the season when they hope their agent can get them a move they'd wanted 12 months ago. Even players like Azaz and Fellows who've only just joined us may be working out an exit plan such is the toxic attitude the players have. You can get some hard line manager to try to bully them into working hard and doing what they should (wasn't that what Juric was supposed to do?) but the players have way too much power these days and can more quickly force them out than the manager can actually get them to do anything. You can fault Martin for his tactics, but one thing he very obviously did was come in and quickly convince the players that his way was the best. I think there was even an interview a few months after he left where one of the players said we'd have stayed up if he'd stayed, which as deluded as it is, shows how much they'd bought into his plan. You can get the best tactician in the world but if the players don't commit to doing what they say 100% then it won't work out. That may even be Will's problem is that the players just don't believe what he's saying.
  11. Could be a 523 with Fraser and Manning as wingbacks and Armstrong and Scienza either side of Stewart
  12. I think it was a calculated risk. He obviously wants to improve his chances of going to the World Cup. He's never doing that playing in the Championship, and probably wouldn't playing for a team at the bottom of the Premier League. He's essentially gambling on Pope getting a big injury and him playing well for a large part of the season for a top third Premier League team, preferably near the end. He probably knows it's a chance in a million, but he likely thinks it's his best bet.
  13. Edwards did have a very bad game, but he showed last season he can definitely do it in the Championship, and the QPR fans were practically worshipping the ground he walked on so I think we can give him a few more chances. Downes and Charles should have controlled midfield but obviously didn't. I don't know how fit Downes was after his injury, so hopefully he'll do better over the rest of the season. The first game for a promoted side is always like a cup final for them. If you watched our game against Newcastle last season you'd never think we'd only win two games all season, and Birmingham ran Ipswich ragged yesterday too. They will have been psyching themselves up for today since the fixtures were released, so it's no surprise they played beyond their quality a bit. Were they a Premier league quality side they would probably have finished 3 or 4 of their chances today, but they're not and we won't face a Premier League quality front line this season in the league. It was very laboured for most of the game though, and we didn't seem able to shoot anywhere apart from the centre of the goal most of the time which was very annoying to watch! I trust we'll get some wingers and a CAM in by the end of the transfer window, but until then it looks like our only strategy to chase a game is to just play every striker at once, which I can't imagine being 100% effective! Ipswich next week will be a very interesting game, we definitely need to play either Downs or Stewart through the middle from the start though, as Armstrong will never be much use through the middle. I'm also not giving Will credit for the Manning substitution as good as it was as I think it was one forced on him by injury haha
  14. We need to put either Downs or Stewart on so we have some kind of physical presence up front
  15. This is going to be very confusing for the commentators if we keep Flynn and play him with Damion lots 😂 I'm quite happy with this signing though
