  1. I love the ITKs, but I do think their followers fall into one of three categories. 1) Follow the gourd 2) Follow the shoe 3) Follow the smiling red panda
  2. Never really looked at TWA 800 before, so anything I'd have to say here would be hastily Google'd regurgitation. Let me have a proper nose and I'll get back to you. I was engaged in family matters tonight, so haven't been as readily available to respond. Let me address your last point first. I completely agree. Anyone with a lick of sense would have figured out that flying commercial airliners over a virtual war zone where planes have been shot down was an incredibly bad idea. I do wonder at what sort of level international flight paths are decided though; is something inherently international the sort of thing a VP of an airline could sort? Regardless, you're right - I wouldn't want to be a VP of Malaysian Airlines right now. Two aircraft lost in the space of five months, one of which is completely unexplained. It's not good for them, and it's not good for the aviation industry. If this goes beyond mere crash, and there's something more to it, then I think it's going to be very difficult to prove which side did it. Any evidence that is presented is going to be widely contested. I've often said on the mainboard that 99% of all speculation is just talking bóllocks in advance; same applies here. Too early and too few facts on the ground. It'll be interesting to see if we "do a Syria", and insist that we engage in some sort of action despite not having any evidence to do so.

Scotland Yard detective instrumental in Stephen Lawrence case claims he was moved from his post after announcing intentions to investigate politicians for child abuse. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jul/16/uk-detective-removed-post-alleged-child-abuse-claims
  6. My hat is off to you. Coming from Cov, I'm amazed you weren't instantly paralysed at the sight of architecture
  7. You are a caveman, sir. Use of the word slut stops us all getting laid.
  8. Finally giving up the blog for "pyar" trolling, Col?
  9. Jizz cocks, Jamie - not jizz socks; that's just you and teenagers lacking medium-term thinking powers. Check behind your radiators to make sure there are no crusty escapees.

I don't think McAlpine is a good example. He was named in print in the early 1990s as a paedophile by Scallywag magazine. He didn't sue that publication then, although perhaps coincidentally, both of the authors of that piece are now dead, well before their time. The moment you speak of is surely the Newsnight case, in which Steven Messham named McAlpine as his abuser, then recanted claiming it was mistaken identity. Convenient; pretty much the only outcome that would get McAlpine completely off the hook, with further scrutiny surely discouraged after the high profile libel actions against Alan Davies and Sally Bercow. The man is now dead. Don't be too surprised if his name comes out during the inquiries.

Possibly. I've seen him named several times as a person of interest, particularly because of his residency at Dolphin Square (Pimlico was dubbed Pimp-lico by Tory wags due to the high availability of rent boys). Little would surprise me as it did when the Savile revelations first broke. A lot of people on this thread have felt that light entertainers were the tip of the iceberg. This week, we've learned that Margaret Thatcher personally covered up abuse. Edwina Currie's autobiography, the source from which we learned that Maggie's PPS was a "noted pederast" with a liking for young boys, at least gives her the option of the benefit of the doubt. Edwina reckoned she either didn't know or was taking a risk. I think she was wrong on both counts; she did know and it was no risk. The previous Tory Prime Minister Edward Heath was a regular visitor to Jersey, and has been named as not only an abuser, but also murderer of children. The investigation never got off the ground there, and is still suppressed to this day. What's disturbing is that Savile seemed to have been everywhere. Now maybe we're just looking for it now, but this was a man that was connected to political leaders, the Vatican and royalty. He'd spend Christmas at Chequers and boasted of being called in to patch up things between Charles and Di. There's no way he had that level of access to so many VIPs without the intelligence services knowing exactly what he was.

Lived on Dolphin Square. http://google-law.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/pimlico-mps-debauched-parties-with-rent.html Accused of stifling report into North Wales abuse by Messham (the guy that named, then unnamed McAlpline). Kept the scope local. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9663457/William-Hague-stifled-1996-paedophile-report-says-victim.html
  13. The normal reasons would be:- a) not to alert other clubs of potential interests b) not to annoy any existing team members Either way, I'm being optimistic and assuming that the sensitivity is because we're aiming high.

Stepping down as Foreign Minister and leaving the Commons after the General Election. One who might know quite a bit about the situation in the 1980s.
  19. How will this impact your life?
  20. Well, if you're playing Scrabble and using surnames, Tadic is a slight upgrade on Lallana (7 points to Lallana's tile-kissin' 6). However, Pelle is a clear downgrade on Lambert, garnering only 7 points to Rickie's mighty eleven. Things change a little if you include first names ( that Z really works for him ) but it's a poor showing when a new signing's surname scores less points in Scrabble than his predecessor. Koeman out.
  21. Yeah, but he's looking for the best, Tokes. "That'll do" won't do. I reckon Jamie can either sign up for a contract on every network, or alternatively, send a SWF member along for a weekend who is cavalier about his or her contractual arrangements - a sort of playdate, if you will. Alas, I must exclude myself from consideration, having provided enough support to gingers over my short lifetime.
  22. I thought PSG were sniffing around him anyways.
  23. tbf, Torres actually was a good player until he moved to Chelsea.
  24. I'm not sure that a couple of peeps reporting the same Tweets is "gathering pace", but it'll amuse me if it happens for several reasons.
  25. Clearly rubbish. DuncanRG has the detail.
