  1. The second article is more about the China angle.
  2. According to numerous reports, China and specifically HSBC, may be in real trouble. Beeb report indicating that HSBC have halted large cash transfers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25861717 This is pretty unnerving in and of itself. HSBC demanding reasons for any cash withdrawal of more than £4K, judging from the anecdotal reports in the article. I found a further piece of well-linked analysis which suggests that HSBC is undergoing a major liquidity crisis amidst rumblings that they've severely overstated their cash position. http://iacknowledge.net/a-closer-look-at-china-and-hsbc-are-they-running-out-of-cash/ Financial types; is this legit? Heard any rumblings about HSBC? Is another big bailout on the horizon?
  3. Money no object = both + gaming PC. Otherwise, PS4 or wait for the inevitable price drop on the One. I cannot recommend it at its current RRP.
  4. Bringing it local; the PAL charts for last week. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=758801 No XBOX One game in the top 5. Almost every multi-plat game doing better on PS4 than One ( Lego Super Heroes stands apart ). The fact that FIFA 14 (PS4) is top of the charts speaks volumes about what the mainstream gamer is buying.
  5. Interesting piece of analysis on sales figures. Takes 2013 sales as a concept out of the equation. Instead, it focuses on daily sales rates, nowt else. http://www.forbes.com/sites/sap/2014/01/23/why-ps4-is-selling-faster-than-xbox-one/

If your assertion is correct, then the Baz/Dune/Stanley entity is surely in too deep to ever admit it. The amount of stuff wilfully invented to support the character is laughable. Labour Party membership, a life and wife in Liverpool, a young child. In a sense, it's almost admirable that someone would go to such lengths just to troll. In many others, it really isn't.
  7. Fair play Nolan; you're correct on this one. Hadn't realised that this was one of their huge u-turns.

Abrams only talent is making things look good. He doesn't particularly care if those things make sense or not. Take the bastard off the Star Wars movies and get him to do a remake of Yellow Submarine.

F**king up a Star Trek movie so bad you almost f**k up an older one at the same time?
  10. I didn't know Jon Stewart was a fan. I'm naturally flattered.
  11. Don't sell our stars, Katharina The truth is we're f**ked without them All our away days In grounds far away They kept on scoring So please don't flog them
  12. The lazy bastard coasted on sublime skill and vision.
  13. Video with a breakdown of 40 upcoming PS4 games; 20 downloadable and 20 retail. [video=youtube;Q3Klq-eT-lM]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3Klq-eT-lM
  14. Trailer for Wolfenstein, a game I've never traditionally had a great deal of time for. This looks pretty good though.
  15. There is about 10 seconds of checking for a licence, then the movie begins and is in HD within two seconds. However, I've got a 100Mb connection in my house. Everything moves quickly; the old 360 movie player used to be quite impressive too. I haven't played through single player yet, but I've played a lot of multi-player. My PS4 came bundled with it. The single player campaign runs at 30FPS, and does look excellent. There's a real-time pan shot that begins the game; really looks awesome. Multi-player is good enough that I haven't been tempted to re-purchase BF4 or look at COD. Most disc-based games install something, but you do need the disc in the drive to play disc-based games. Download games are obviously different, but inexplicably cost more than the boxed retail versions. There are quite a few. Looking forward to inFamous : Second Son (PS4), Titanfall (PC), GTA V (PC), Fable (One), Xenoblade Chronicle's as yet untitled successor (Wii U), Uncharted (PS4), Diablo 3 (PS4 - and will be my 3rd fkn copy - the console version is excellent). I've only really seen it used once in games; for quick time events in Injustice. Works ok, but was a little gimmicky in that context. Most things just work off the normal controller functions, and it is a very nice controller. A couple of other points; I've not tried to use the PS4 in anger as a media server. It doesn't support DLNA yet, and it very much looks like Sony would like to be Apple when it comes to media; a big walled garden. Long term, I'm not too worried about that; I think it'll be patched in at some point. I know people who've held off buying one for precisely that reason; they'll need to play their media somewhere. Sony are testing the water right now to see what they can get away with. The other big thing that floats by boat are the smaller downloadable games; it was the best thing about the last gen for me. MS' licensing deal with smaller outfits means a lot of stuff won't make it over for financial reasons. During last gen, we had the farce of a developer wanting to release a patch but being financially unable to do so, due to MS' certification charges. I'd expect the range of downloadable games to be much bigger on PS4 for this reason.
  16. 1) There is no multi-platform game on PS4 that looks better on One. 2) The One repeats every fifth frame you'll ever see. This happens all the time, although the circumstances under which it's really apparent are sports games and news tickers. 3) Pap is a *lot* of a **** With regards to your purchase, I'm not at all surprised. You have a long history of paying too much for hardware x

Yeah, I'm fairly sure that the mods don't want "threads based on a poster's name and feck all else" naming style imported over from the UI. I don't have anyone on ignore, but I stopped replying to Bazza's provocations weeks ago. I wish him well in what must be a difficult time.
  18. Hello Latheal. Thanks for this; it's a cut above much of the other commentary on the issues, and respect for being candid from the start. As the recipient of an XBox One as a gift, you must naturally be excluded from the buyer's remorse club. FWIW, I don't think there will ever be massive differences in FIFA unless they really start hammering the detail; the graphical scope of the game is limited to the size of the stadium and what's in it. They don't have to worry too much about draw distance, and can use a lot of smoke and mirrors because of the stop-start nature of the game. Close-ups and replays are a good example of this; the game runs at 60FPS most of the time, but drops down to 30FPS on corners, freekicks and replays. You and I will probably be in the same hardware club at some point in the future. My jumping on point for One will probably be the new Fable. At that point, I'll have a PC, the One and the PS4. The only thing I can see myself buying on One are the exclusives. To be even-handed, that'll probably be the case with much of the PS4 catalogue too; the PC is such an attractive proposition price/performance wise. The XBox One is not a car crash of a system. Had it been launched in isolation, those sales numbers would be amazing. The problem is that the PS4 has eclipsed it; its unclear as to what happens next. None of that is going to stop an owner from enjoying the system, but that doesn't answer the question "XBox One or PS4?". The console is beaten hands down on price and performance. For me, it's an easy call to make and when I own a One and have to buy a multi-platform console game, that'll be an easy call to make too.
  19. Gotta say; distinctly unimpressed with losing a talented footballer because of discipline. People are calling Osvaldo fit to burn on Twitter, but we knew he was a gamble. Many of our players are, Lovren included. If you're aware of a problem up-front, you should be trying to mitigate it. I dunno; maybe Osvaldo is some irredeemable bastard from Satan's version of the SS, but we knew discipline could be an issue up-front and have failed to the extent where a 15M rated player is not even on the bench. Surprised to hear reports of players "turning" on him on Twitter. Suggests to me that Osvaldo has been an issue for some time and that this is the last straw.
  20. There's no guarantee that these people exist anywhere outside of my own fevered imagination.
  21. Were all the "blood drawn" stories legit, then? Looks like a regular shiner to me, if the conk can be excluded as a recent development.
  22. Goodfellas, the film. When Tommy gets made, his buddies say it's like them getting "made" ( the "Don't F**k With Me" mafia card ). They will never have a chance to be made, on account of not being pure Italian. They are happy because one of their own is doing so. Grafting the metaphor onto Mikey's date, its forum plankton that don't have Super Michael's "derring-do" with chicks that are erecting the "Go Super Mikey" banners. They will likely PM him next week to find out what a woman's breast feels like.
  23. I think it is best left vague and unresolved. More chance of people feeling intense personal shame that way.
  24. Yes, but Fonte gave Osvaldo a public wedgie. As a hot-tempered South American, Dani surely demands satisfaction! Seriously tho, good points MLG. I do have to wonder how much is a failure of management tho'. Do you know how long the feud has been going on?
  25. The sad thing is that for many posters, Mikey getting a date is like Tommy being made in Goodfellas, hopefully without the pistol shot to the back of the head.
