I can't confirm that I'm not mental. Who am I to make that judgement? How safe is that judgement if I turn out to be mental? Would I even tell you the truth? The results could come in, read "100% F**king Hatstand", and I could just say "No, I'm fine Tokes - prone to a bit of multiple personality disorder on the second Thursday of every month, but apart from that, all good".

I never voted for them once after Iraq, but had never been a member beforehand. Joined the Labour Party last year and went to an inauguration thingy for new members. Almost everyone there was:- a) an old member, rejoining after leaving over Iraq b) a new member who didn't fancy joining because of Iraq

I've abandoned one of my save games because of this, although may yet go back to it. I loaded the Italian leagues, and most of the decent players you can grab on a 6M transfer budget ( that's if you guarantee Cortese a EURO Cup finish, btw ) have no intention of joining Southampton. When do you think this will be fixed? Next patch, or when the Jonas Brothers reunite and play St Marys?

So far, everyone else commenting on this is objecting, dude. We're the ones that have to live with these bright ideas. I echo Smirking's suggestion. Stick a main board post up asking whether buying players from the Italian leagues is a club philosophy.

It's very difficult to tell at the moment, ottery. Potentially, this story pushes events into a different, perhaps "conclusive" direction. There are two large differences between the people named as suspects. First, there's the gender to consider. Second, there's the whole "still alive now" thing. Dead men, famously, tell no tales. If the crime were pinned on this fella, it'd be very difficult for him to dispute it. It'd also allow the investigation, and presumably the campaign, to start winding down - especially if the fate of Madeleine became known. Or it could just be another story that points blame away from the McCanns, who received their worst press in years this weekend.

Sorry, MLG - as a coder - I get what you're saying. Cortese has the attribute, and the club inherits that from him. Yadda, yadda. As presented to the player though, there's no distinction - it's a club philosophy. Even with the extra information you've provided here, I still think it's wrong. I can understand Cortese being comfortable with buying from Italy, but as my earlier post says, I can't imagine him boll*cking MP because he signed Wanyama. I bet you can't even drum up an article where Cortese says that his personal philosophy is to buy from the Italian leagues. So why is it in the game? I think you've confused concepts of "buyer's market opportunism" and "personal preference" with "club philosophy" here, and while I appreciate that it's on Cortese's file, the game presents it as a club philosophy. Damn, find me any Saints fan who thinks buying from the Italian leagues is a "club philosophy". Roll on the Data Editor, I say

In my last post, I challenged you to provide any news story from the club which indicated that club philosophy is to buy from the Italian leagues. I have not had that challenge answered, so I'm left to assume that you have none, although happy to change my mind if you dish up the goods. Is it fair to say that you've made this up based on your analysis?

The club philosophy, as stated back in the day, was to complement players coming up through the youth system with top quality signings. We bought Wanyama from Celtic. We almost bought Buttner from Vitesse. Rodriguez came from Burnley. Boruc was a free agent when we signed him, and none of the other players you mention were even born in Italy. Now we all know that the Chairman has contacts in Italy and that financial conditions in certain clubs have favoured prospective buyers. That does not mean the club has a philosophy of buying from Italy. It just means it's a handy market. You pore over every Saints story that's out there, or close enough to at least know the answer to my next question, given its inclusion in the game. Find me one statement from Southampton FC which amounts to "our philosophy is to buy players from the Italian league". The club has been unequivocal in its expression of philosophy. Develop youth. Aim to have at least half the first team as academy graduates. Play an attractive style of football that is known as the Southampton style. When has the club ever said "our philosophy is to buy players from the Italian leagues"? What happens in my FM game if Cortese is replaced with someone from a crap footballing nation?

Blimey. You know less about modern music than Verbal. Given that he is unaware of these new-fangled "electric" guitars, that's saying something.
-
It's nonsense. Sort it out, MLG. I have to load the f**king Italian league just to be able to adhere to club philosophy OR look like a whining bast when I ask for club policy to be changed.
-
MLG - What's all this b*llocks about it being a club philosophy to sign players from Italy? Does that mean our management team would have got boll*cked for signing Wanyama?

Heh. I was never the target of this recruitment drive. I've always spent time in TMS. I just don't exclusively post here.

Les Dennis is well happy. He's in his house fist-pumping screaming "Yes! Some of my material is still relevant!"
-
I'm giving up work as soon as I've 21K in the bank. Rich then, innit?
-
Bit of early Dennis for you skip... You love it...
-
I was referring to your use of the term "Mavis". It's not something I've heard here or in Southampton. I have seen Les Dennis do a "Mavis" impression and you do mention Les Dennis more than any other poster ( apart from me, making this point here ). I believe you love all those comedians that you reference, and that **** = Four Stars!

Didn't fail. Still in operation today. The prison system is the only place where slavery is still legal. Corporations are banking loads of cash off the back of young black men on drug possession charges. That's what the War on Drugs was really all about.
-
You are younger than I, Bazza. Didn't your ma and pa let you watch The Young Ones or Blackadder, FFS?
-
You're missing the point. The job of Government should be to create conditions whereby people can go out to work unassisted. Successive governments have failed to grasp the nettle in this regard, despite the vast power they purport to have, such as the ability to create laws that might be able to radically change those conditions.
-
Why are you obsessed with Les Dennis and his works, Bazza?
-
Isn't community service what convicted criminals do? Are the unemployed criminals? Furthermore, how do you define "useful"? I'd argue that a single mum on benefits staying at home and properly looking after her kids is more "useful" than the same mother doing some menial work for almost no money, just so that genuine taxpayers feel that she is doing something "useful".

This may be a wild stab in the dark, but maybe you should try contacting Claire Grogan. Apart from performing in non-rock rock festivals, I'm sure she's not busy.

I put it down to shrooms and an unhealthy fascination with "Foxy".

I quite like sparring with Barry. It's all good blokey banter, which is a lot more than I can say for some of the other "interactions" I have on this site.
