There are very few athletics in Swaythling these days. While not universal, a good strategy is to assume the fat ones are on the sauce and the thin ones are on drugs.

I'd liked to see a couple of meffs identified and classified, ta.

Here is a map of pubs worth visiting in the city centre. http://goo.gl/maps/9MjEp I like to start at the Philharmonic Rooms, work my way down towards Pilgrim Street and Roscoe Street, eventually heading toward Mathew Street. Few points of interest. Concert Square is your young person's place. I've marked MODO on the map for that. I wouldn't recommend that real ale enthusiasts go there. Mathew St pretty much caters for all ages, but is particularly suited to the 30+ crowd. Don't go to Rubber Soul. It's full of scals. I've got a real soft spot for the Grapes (Roscoe St) and the Hanover Hotel (Hanover St). Neither get particularly busy; both good stop-over points for further beers. Oddly enough; pretty much all the out of the way pubs have good real ales. They also have the added advantage of having women as patrons.

Mate, I've been there tons of times. Between 1994 and 1998, it was right over the road from my Uni. Used to go there a lot for lunch, and was dragged there twice this year by some mates a few years older than me. I wasn't having a go at you specifically, more these people:-

You could go dressed as Teletubbies. OB would have a real hard time then.

I'm still not convinced that Turkish and This Charming Man are two different physical people. I'm more than willing to entertain a Tyler Durden type scenario, but whether it's Turks knowingly using an alternate identity or Turks having a severe form of multiple personality disorder, the end result is the same - Turkish/TCM might have just been beating himself.

FFS people. Haven't you gotten around to the business of completely absorbing Eastleigh yet? Not just the football club either; the entire town. I speak as a Sotonian with Eastleigh heritage, so it's almost impossible for me to have any bias on this issue

Boys, it's the age of the smartphone. Why aren't you "Krew types" capturing video footage of you ironing each other out? I'm sure it'll be popular.

Talent without application is as useful as application without talent. I think you can take it as read that anyone holding down a berth in a top-flight team has both, Barton included.

This sounds like my first ever fight. Lad over the road was giving me a regular hiding. My old dear told me that if I came in crying again, she'd give me something to cry for ( good ol' working class values ). To be fair to her, she didn't give me too much of a bollocking after I'd bounced his bonce off concrete and sent him to the General.

I've never really done any martial arts stuff. How do things work when you're in the early stages and don't know much? Do you practice on weaker things first? Logically, you should start off by fighting a toddler or something.

So sorry mate, didn't realise these arrived at your gaff today. Let me know in advance next time and I'll steer clear of the site for a few days Still, the Krav Maga might come in useful. Fancy a job as my part-time minder? Believe it or not, some of the things I say get me into bother

Well, I've pressed the Godzilla button and invoked the Barton handle on Twitter, linking this thread. It is my fervent hope that Joey turns up here and starts taking names, if only as a Registered User

I take it that Nicola Cortese hasn't officially sanctioned Turkish's position as Saints' Far East Ambassador. Expect Sibley to confirm it in the next few hours.

Even so, you don't become a top-flight professional footballer by accident. Whatever Barton has, he's worked for it. If it so easy, perhaps you'd be sipping champagne in Marseilles and cultivating a banging French accent instead of nailing the plank accusations to the board.
-
So maybe he's taking the p!ss. Maybe this is some carefully constructed media ploy to generate a crapload of exposure. Of all the things that Barton could justifiably be criticised for, this ranks pretty low. It's not like he was regaling us with Britain's Finest Received Pronunciation 3 months ago. Personally, I have more time for Barton than most. Yes, he has been a thug. He's outspoken. What really amuses me is that the vast majority of people who knock him will never have 1% of what he has. Barton gets treated like a lottery winner with an ASBO.

I don't think it's that bad. Actually happens a lot. Leaving aside all the Scandinavian scousers that played for Liverpool in the 1980s, I've seen Sotonians move up here and get a scouse twang within a year.

I am dreading the visit of Man City. Real chance for Mario to get on Yoshi's back.

What's the biggest factor in our recent turn around?

I'm not saying that this is the case with Alps; but has it ever occurred to you that some posters may get sexual gratification from multiple, predictable one-liners from a large mob of lads? What if you're just feeding their perversions?

If a mile or so covers "just over", aim for Newsham Park. Loads of residential streets around it ( Boaler Street off Sheil Road is a good fit ). Leave your car, get on Shiel Road, then it's basically one long road with different names for each bit. Shiel Road Belmont Road Oakfield Road Like I say, all one continuous road. About 1.2 - 1.3 miles. Easy enough to walk; far enough not to be an obvious parking spot, which helps on both ease of parking and "mind your car, mister" shenanigans you might encounter. Map link:- https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Boaler+St&daddr=Liverpool+FC&hl=en&ll=53.421557,-2.953758&spn=0.021815,0.066047&sll=53.423475,-2.95393&sspn=0.021814,0.066047&geocode=FY8ULwMdrQfT_w%3BFQRNLwMdO9LS_yH_cxniV2pXhCmLUwJLZSF7SDH_cxniV2pXhA&t=w&dirflg=w&mra=ltm&z=15 Not the best area, but should have no problems unless your car is awesome.

Mods: can we please have a victim of the month sticky? As a regular visitor to the site, I normally have no problem ascertaining who the herd is currently having a go at, but I've been really busy lately. About six weeks ago, it was Alps. Now it seems to be DPS. Problem is, sussing all of this takes effort. It's only really now that people are dredging up historical threads in an attempt to completely destroy a fellow Saints fan that I know for sure it's DPS I should be bullying. So a few questions... Is DPS the official "mod sanctioned" victim at the moment? Can we have a "victim sticky"? Could you post the victim's address, in case anyone is in the area and wants to stick a sh!t through his or her letterbox? What about some additional options? e.g. a drop down list with some pre-selected terms of abuse? "Odd bast@rd, bizarre logic, lost all respect, on my ignore list", etc. I simply don't think we have enough avenues to hound fellow Saints fans off the site after they've said something we don't agree with. What else can be done?
