No they don't. The Israelis have as much right to Palestine as the Romans do for England. They lived there 2,000 years ago. Are you saying that if the Romans turned up tomorrow, we should give up our land?

Why would you be grateful for knowing a German market exists in Southampton anyway? For starters, actual German markets are a lot closer. Also, do you think you could even make the trip? You lasted a fortnight last time. Diminishing returns and all that.
-
Which means absolutely nothing, because they were not supposed to be there. As a matter of interest, how long do you think a proposed Jewish state would have lasted if they'd decided to set up in the UK, and not Israel? For whatever reason, prior to World War 2, the Jewish civilisation was unable to hold on its homeland, unable to exist in any other form apart from a diaspora. Why then, should this nation that couldn't exist on its own terms, be given land that it hasn't been in possession of for centuries?

Hypo's already planted himself half in my camp on this one. There is a time to discuss bratwurst and West Quay shopping. This is not that time, or that thread, and I genuinely think the accusations of indifference were justified.
-
While I like to see shades of grey in stuff hypo, difficult to do that here. You speak as if this is an equitable conflict. It is not. Israel has the full support of the US, the UK and several of the more corrupt Arab states. It also has a country and representation in the UN. The Palestinians have got nothing in terms of "official" support. Sure, you've got the likes of Iran funding Hamas etc, but that's just more violence. Barring a multi-state solution, which is far more than the Israelis deserve, there is no light at the end of the tunnel for Palestinians. Personally, I'm always inclined to side with those being oppressed.

I think you should probably post on a thread you understand. I know that ubiquity rests high on your list of priorities, but in this case, it's genuinely doing you a disservice. Take a look at Crab Lungs' link and ask yourself:- are you really adding anything to this debate apart from your own obvious indifference?

It's a f**king disgrace. And 80% of the crap I see on my feeds is sh!t about the X-Factor. Welcome to Airstrip One, people.
-
That is exactly the sort of in-depth, personal and profound experience I was looking for, mate. Thank you. It gladdens the soul to know that in the midst of this disproportionate murder, bratwurst is an influencing factor.
-
Funny how different people see things, isn't it? See here I was, thinking that the Arabs had taken the place of the Jews in public enemy number one stakes. Your opinion is invalid unless you can prove that adherents of the Jewish faith aren't proportionally over-represented in the media, which you can't, because they are.
-
Perhaps you'd like to demonstrate some evidence to the contrary then, Alps. Good luck with that. As for it being the same as in the 1930s, what a load of sh!t that is. It's actually the complete opposite. The Palestinians are the ones living in ghettos, and there is a marked difference between being anti-Semitic ( a completely inaccurate term, btw ) and anti-Zionist. I'll happily sign up to the latter. You don't know the difference between the two.

Pardew didn't do anything wrong in his time here. JPT was great. Give him some applause, I say.

This is exactly the sort of brilliant, accurate commentary I visit this site for.
-
When you understand what that actually means, get back to us. I'd expect it to be a while. You've got some reading to do on submarines first.

Nice one, SuperMikey - largely for reminding me that I listen to this too. By far the worst guest was Peter Serafinowicz. Fk me, that was dull. Most else is a winner though.

So in short, one black footballer out of the three you mention has started to be impressive? Martin Luther King: you wasted your time.
-
No, you're in Austria, Hitler's homeland, in 2012. Because you couldn't hack it in Hampshire for more than two weeks x

Exactly my thoughts. I visited a site about a decade ago which was aimed at promoting awareness of Jewish involvement in the media. Percentage wise, people who self-identify as Jewish comprise about 1% or less of the US population on 2008's figures. This blog post, written by an adherent of the Jewish faith, goes some way to illustrate that there are a lot of Jewish people running the media. http://mondoweiss.net/2008/02/do-jews-dominat.html As I said in an earlier post, I'm no holocaust denier ( can anyone sense a BUT coming? ) BUT I find it highly suspect that in some places, it is actually illegal to posit an alternate view. Illegal. Not dragged out into the cold light of debate, not allowed to be double-checked, questioned or queried in any way. This, in countries that apparently believe freedom of speech is a good thing.
-
I don't think we ever intended to. Buttner was a done deal, remember. He was the first choice before these nebulous "third party issues" got in the way. I think many of us have an alternate theory of what went on there. Reading between the lines; it looks like we thought we were sorted for Buttner and didn't put too much thought into any alternatives. Perhaps the club took the view that what we had was good enough, especially after the Yoshida signing. Like yourself, I don't necessarily share that view - but we are where we are. I think with what we've discovered about Cayman Islands bank loans, it's clear that the Liebherr's weren't prepared to chuck cash at the transfer budget. Some element of compromise was always going to exist. Are we relying on Shaw to save us? I don't think so. It's a team game and there is only so much that one person can contribute. Do I prefer Shaw ahead of Fox? Most definitely. It's what we're about, and although I wouldn't say no to a world class left back, I'd prefer that we developed one rather than pay top dollar.

Honestly, I don't know what his fitness levels have been. I'm just going off what has been said on Twitter. To your other post though, about whether we should be playing a 17 year old left back. On yesterday's evidence, I don't see a problem but its madness to use one game as a barometer for long term form. I don't have a problem with playing youngsters; never have really. It's part of what we're about.
-
Do it then. Enliven my Sunday please.
-
Can you say this in public?
-
That's not strictly true, Turks. Hasn't Shaw been in and out of fitness with a virus or summat?
-
The responses on here are no different from the reaction to any conspiracy theory. No one wants to know that there may be (have been?) trouble at mill. Everything that MLT and Mac said was non-sensationalist and as you point out, quite restrained. The truth of the matter is that a lot of the stuff the club does, like not talk to the Echo, looks decidedly f**king smalltime and petty.
-
"Flash" Gordon Watson!

I like MLT, always have. I don't think he should shut up either. The points he raised today have been rumoured for weeks. He may not like Cortese, but no doubting his love for the team. The key issue here; as it has been since the start of the Liebherr takeover, is a complete lack of official information. No surprise that in lieu of that, the club is externally perceived as having internal problems. That's the question that the host led with, btw.
