  1. The holier than thou crowd that would attempt to impugn anyone with a critical opinion do themselves no favours. I like Nigel, but have been extremely disappointed in the manner of our defeats and general disjointedness of the team. Last night looked like a "back to basics" approach to me. I can understand that with the amount of individual errors that the team have committed, such an approach might seem sensible; but even last night, players under no pressure were making bad passes. As many others have said, the confidence looks shot. I'm more optimistic than most. I'd hoped that we'd pull clear of the relegation zone and establish a top half finish by the end of the season. Those expectations might seem mental in hindsight; but a big part of that was an assumption that Nigel Adkins would be able to apply his methods in this league successfully. So far, what is the evidence that he has? Sorry chaps; Nigel's Premiership record is appalling. I acknowledge the fine job he has done with back-to-back promotions, but at the same time, it is so difficult to ignore our league position and lack of progress on all fronts. Can't win. Can't keep a clean sheet. You can blame individual errors all you want; but you could also argue that it's the job of the manager to weed that stuff out. As others have pointed out; we've shipped players because they were supposedly not up to Premiership level. At what stage is it ok to suggest that a change of management might be required? Ken Tone would prefer to get relegated with Adkins in charge. Does he get a full season in the Championship again?
  2. If the Walking Dead has told us anything, it's that cities are a no-no. In a pinch, I'd consider holing up here:- http://www.williamsontunnels.co.uk/ First choice, up the M6, hide out in the Lake District. Find a defensible position and hole up. I'm also rather keen on the idea of hammock camping. I believe some sort of elevated tent city would prove to be formidable base of operations for a zombie plague.
  3. Or alternatively, two judgemental ones.
  4. Bookies odds are shortening considerably on Nige being the first to go.
  5. Just saw this myself. Really wouldn't be a surprise.
  6. At least he took the trouble to write more than a couple of lines and actually said something, eh?
  7. Adkins is done. Cannot say he hasn't had enough chances.
  8. Think Adkins might have 45 minutes to save his job. FWIW, I think we've played alright. No killer instinct though, and some bad luck. That may be the way it plays out.
  9. Someone get down to Threshers.
  10. I've done a bit of background on this. USB mass storage mode was disabled as part of ICS. The replacement protocol is MTP, designed by Microsoft, implemented by people like Creative, but not on Mac OS. That is a shame. MTP not as good as USB storage mode IMO. Google have sh4t on the Mac crowd a bit here.
  11. But but but... I had a tinfoil hat waiting for you
  12. That is good to know. It basically means I can plug the device into most hardware and use it as a USB drive. Does MacOS really not pick it up?
  13. My plans are a lot less low-tech than that, mate! My stereo is geared toward Apple stuff. Droid phone is connected via 3.5mm aux input. I've bought a simple holder for it, and plan on just using the phone's screen as the stereo controls. Already ordered the 64Gb card. Does that just show up on the file system when you plug the phone in via USB?
  14. We can argue semantics all day, but if I released a bit of code that did something without any kind of acknowledgement, then made it look like my desired option was unavailable, it'd never make it through UAT. Bread and butter stuff.
  15. Sorting out my entourage for this game. I would advise anyone thinking of making the trip to come up on the Friday. Decent night out.
  16. Bug. I've seen this myself. Won't let you add the club because it has already been added. Click cancel and hey presto, start of season expectations from Nicola Cortese.
  17. Ah, the man who facilitated the coup d'état in 2000. (Tbf, the Americans called it an "election" )
  18. Well, you'll only get FMH if you take the tablet route. With the money you'll end up spending, you should be able to find a laptop with a half-decent gfx card in it.
  19. The US political system is particularly stupid in this regard. Really don't understand the relevance of the Electoral College for the Presidential election. It could easily be a straight up popular vote.
  20. Just looking forward to it all being over at the moment. It really isn't the media coverage that is doing my head in; more the grim spectacle of watching people pretend they know or care about politics. The other thing that comes across is a general feeling that although the US has plenty of land, wealth and military power, I really don't get the sense of a country, at least not in the same way that this imperfect isle of immigrant cultures is. Maybe it's the space or the relative lack of roots, but the US increasingly looks like a place where the tribes of the old world happened to move. Can the US ever be "One Nation"?
  21. I have been watching a show called Archer on Netflix. Genuinely one of the filthiest things I've ever seen.
  22. All of the above, really. The film plays with some fantastic concepts, looks amazing but is let down by a lot of the writing, especially characterisation. Elizabeth Shaw is the closest thing we've got to a sympathetic character. David certainly isn't that; but he is interesting to watch. The rest? Mostly cardboard cut-out characters or scenarios; the cocksure captain, the frosty commander with daddy issues. Just contrast that with Aliens for a sec; which sort of did the same thing but leaves the viewer with an indelible impression of who each character is. Hicks? Honourable blue collar grunt. Gorman? Inexperienced field commander promoted above his station. Burke? Utter utter snake who'd sell his own grandmother to get ahead. Prometheus has that in bits; the captain and his cronies were good lads - but generally, I haven't bonded with the people in Prometheus as much as those in Aliens. I don't buy the characters in Prometheus as much because they make spectacularly bad decisions. That bit where matey removes his helmet? That's stupid enough, but the fact that everyone else does it afterwards is just insane. Yes, it might be breathable. It might also contain some weird alien virus you don't know about and can't detect with your sensors. The ginger geologist and his mate p!ssed me off too. What do they do, exactly, apart from moan and make bad calls? You don't see them in action. Hell, I think even Gorman took a couple of xenomorphs out before popping his clogs. That all said; fascinating universe. If they can conjure some decent character moments; this series has a potentially much bigger canvas to play with than the films it sets up.
  23. What if you did it by design so it was exciting? In your example there, make Saints play Norwich again. Same sort of thing with close run things on European spots, etc. They don't necessarily have to put fixtures out for all 20 teams. Just do the ones that matter. I'm not a fan of a 39th fixture anyway, tbh - but I can see ways to make it viable.
  24. No I didn't, DPS! I think you were one of the first people I added from here. I know better now

    Nexus 10

Blimey Essruu, I really don't know how to take that. I'm having real trouble reconciling this heartfelt monologue to a gentler age with your rabid desire to come onto tech boards and dis technology you don't own. Take your social concerns about the effect of the black mirror to the Lounge mate. This thread is for people who are interested in the Nexus 10. What are you here to discuss?
