I remember a couple of easy saves for the Newcastle 'keeper in the last 5 minutes but I'm hard pushed to remember any sort of pressure on their goal for the rest of the 2nd half. Mulitiple short passes 50 yards from goal is too easy to defend.
That was a team of expensive pro footballers against a team of eager kids. Newcastle hardly had to push themselves to get the result they were paid for.
I've been boring about this for ages but Saints just have no idea in the final third. It's pointless having loads of possession if you do eff all with it.
How many shots has the Newcastle 'keeper had to deal with this half? Instead Bednarek gets a yellow and Newcastle f-up a good chance. Saints been found out again.
Saints currently playing with all the finesse of a park team. We never put opponents under any sort of sustained pressure. Tidy enough in build up but always susceptible to a real pro team.
So far looking like a typical Saints game of old. Loads of pretty possession. Some good chances gone begging. Then let a lanky ageing No9 score. I'm predicting 1-3.
Villa have pretty much had a stroll today. Their better players stuck their chances away. Saints have hardly created anything of note. Just have to hope this season doesn't drift to an end.
