They also told them the freekick was soft!? It was an obvious foul by the letter of the law. This new trend of PGMOL licking the boots of everyone unhappy with them is starting to do my head in. It's kind of pathetic.

Yeah both him and his missus had covid and she'd been in hospital with it. The win was at home though, wasn't it?
-
Or it will make him see what the others are up to and demand a move in january.

Pure nonsense. His distribution is good but nothing special in todays game and certainly not good enough that I wouldn't sacrifice it for a much better shot stopper.
-
Henderson and Phillips included though. Absolutely ridiculous.

My favourite part was before that, Downes running up to get involved with a big grin on his face. That Pearson was a horrible little prick all game long.

It's been OK, some poor passes along with some good ones and even the good ones aren't any better than Meslier for Leeds the other weekend. His distribution certainly isn't good enough to warrant pinning all our hopes on him, we should have signed an experienced first choice keeper.

Yeah it surprises me there isn't a clear policy on how these things work. Start of the process should be: Referee "On field decision offside no goal, VAR can you confirm?" Not "BFHEHuefhaeawnfoiUSHEOIGU delay delay suehfuoisef offside ushergousheo no problem, cheers Daz"

I agree, if the arms hadn't been round him then it wouldn't be as it's clearly a coming together but the fact his arms go round him makes it look like deliberate contact.

Yeah I was struck by how chaotic the audio was. It almost seemed to me they were in an absolute rush which is quite funny because that's probably due to the criticisms of how long it's taken in the past. I will say one thing that transcript doesn't get across is that it's very clear the VAR official didn't realise what the on field call was - the "off" comment I think is a typo and he was actually saying "kick-off". Pretty sure he thought the goal had been given on field, hence saying there was no problem.

That's absolutely insane. A tournament taking place on both sides of the Atlantic.

Very badly = lots of criticism Badly = criticism Slightly badly = a little criticism Average = not much either way Slightly well = little bit of praise Well = praise Very well = gushing praise Bazunu is doing better that's true. He has gone from badly to average on the above scale. He's doing the bare minimum that is expected of him right now, so there isn't much in either direction.

No, but there were separate stats for long and short passes when I looked, can't be bothered to look now. However, it's kind of irrelevant. You can't make the argument that you're sacrificing shot stopping ability for distribution if the keeper is only good at passing short to his defenders - that's nothing special.

If we wrote off every player after one missed opportunity we'd never be able to field a team. Mara looked good when he came on, had good control and turned the opposition around a bit. Poor finish from someone over eager to get his first goal of the season but I would rather we use him than Adams at this point.

Got depressed after the Sunderland game and stopped doing it. However since you're so interested; He's now conceded 42.6% of shots on target. 20 out of 47. Save rate of 57.4% - second worst in the league, only better than Middlesbrough. Interestingly his distribution which is lauded as making him stand out in this league doesn't really reflect that - he's 7th in the pass completion list for keepers, behind Leicester, Middlesbrough, Watford, Norwich and Hulls keepers. He tops only two categories so far - amount of goals conceded, and amount of goals conceded above the amount of XG which predicts we have conceded 4.7 goals more than we should have so far.

Is our squad better now than in our promotion season?

Forgot about Butterfield entirely! Whilst KWP might have better ball control Richardson and Butterfield were both more effective going forward, although that may have more to do with having Lambert on the end of their crosses. -

Harding was never first choice and barely played the season we played in the championship. Fox was only error prone and lacking in discipline when we reached the Prem. Fox was an excellent player at this level. Manning so far is about Harding's level, he'd probably be brilliant in league one. -
I look forward to having faith in our keeper in 4 or 5 years time.

Davis KWP Fonte Hooiveld Fox Sulemana Schneiderlin Cork Lallana Lambert Sharp Even KWP is debatable, Richardson was absolutely superb that season. -
We don't, but we're not playing suicidal football anymore which is the main thing.
-
Travers and that little pikey Pearson were angling for a fight at the end there without a doubt.
-
First clean sheet, you could see what it meant to the defence. Bednarek went ape shit at full time.
-
Armstrong man of the match is a very lazy choice. He was atrocious first half, goal aside.
-
This is your fault.

He's a very good striker to be fair.
