  1. People will scoff at using FM stats but one thing this does show you is that even the biased FM researcher for HIS OWN TEAM doesn't rate him.
  2. You've also got to be able to win the ball and /or do something with it. I'd rather have a midfielder who is very good at passing and crossing, but poor at tackling, or a midfielder who's very good at tackling and intercepting the ball, but terrible at shooting. Average at everything just makes me think of Hojberg and he was poor for us.
  3. Yep, I'd agree with that.
  4. Can't bring myself to get excited about Svanberg I have to say. I can't shake the feeling that he'll end up proving to be a midfielder that's average at everything but good at nothing.
  5. 🖕
  6. MLG has always overrated our players, makes it more fun for us to be fair.
  7. Don't want Ings' back thanks, we clearly did well to judge his steep drop off point. Sometimes clubs know when a player is on a downward curve (they have access to all the training stats etc), Liverpool did the same thing with Torres, everyone said they were nuts to sell him but he was never the same goalscorer.
  8. Didn't Sturrock come in before the end of the 03/04 season though? Maybe what he means is he started supporting Saints at the start of 04/05, which to be fair is when I can first remember going to watch Saints.
  9. Ouch, in a career that includes local postman managing Saints was his most disappointing time.
  10. Never should have got rid of him.
  11. Yeah I agree. When they replace the international break friendlies it's a good idea, but this is just insane....these players basically haven't had a break since the pandemic lock down.
  12. To you and the people who reacted with confused faces...it was sarcasm.
  13. In that context it's like a cryptic crossword clue.
  14. The racist abuse starting early I see. Shame on you.
  15. I think that's nonsense. John scored some absolute belters out of nowhere, rasiak was only really capable of finishing well set up chances. Really bizarre to revise history and start slating stern John. He is literally the only reason we stayed up that season.
  16. Ramello Mitchell and Benni Smaithwaite were meant to be pretty highly rated too weren't they?
  17. Shock, Prowseys corners look infinitely better with more intelligent/quality players in the box on the end of them.
  18. £100million or they're wasting their time.
  19. A signing I would be very happy/excited about but honestly don't see us making. Prove me wrong saints.
  20. If I had to guess I'd say it was written without knowing what was actually going on.
  21. Pretty sure his wife would know.
  22. Fresh ideas, experience, working with a winning side. The changes to the backroom staff are what will probably make me more excited for next season than a bunch of £10million youngster signings.
  23. If McCarthy didn't get injured last season I think we could have gone down, Forster put in some brilliant performances after coming back in.
  24. I'm a bit stumped as to why so many people on here seem to have forgotten that players who have been around for a few years and played more than 30 pro games will have learnt what to do and what not to do in certain situations, will have dealt with set back and won't be as disheartened by it, will have learnt how to properly manage a game when in a winning position instead of taking ridiculous risks. No-one is saying we sign aging players who haven't got much quality. But I just wanted to see someone in goal who is competent, knows how to deal with different types of plauers and who won't flake and fall apart at the first sign of adversity.
  25. I forgot that Sparkes was still here. With how our keepers have repeatedly regressed I would have rather had a full clearout of backroom staff.
