Can't find my post from before in this thread, but I'll just say it again...Nketiah would be a superb signing on a free transfer.

What the fuck is wrong with us...
-
There certainly are, so why are we so fucking incapable of finding one! Forster looked really pissed off today like he couldn't wait to get away from the shambles of a defence in front of him, and I can't blame him at all.
-
Indeed it is. But as we are never going to get a result (win the league) and our best hope is midtable with the odd foray into Europe, the only thing Saints fans are paying their season ticket money for is commitment and entertaining football.

-------------Forster ----Stephens Salisu Bednarek KWP -----Romeu JWP ----Perraud --S. Armstrong Adams Broja Three forwards to press the backline, two high energy defensive mids to help out the defense and high stamina fullbacks providing the width with a bit more security behind them to allow them to push forward. Bednarek plays better when he's left sided, pretty sure he plays there for Poland too. It shouldn't have taken us so long to figure it out and I doubt Ralph has, but it's absolutely the case.

The Minsk Memorial Thread (and continuation of his work)
Saint_clark replied to Minsk's topic in The Saints
So that's it, we're officially in negative for both head to head and matchday comparison. How fucking sad is that. We were up so much for so long. -
I guess it means without needing a sale first. We bought Armstrong for that much after bringing in money from Ings and Vestergaard. Hopefully we can spend £15million without needing to sell first.
-
Ive said for a long time that the refusal to spend upwards of £20million was ludicrous. We would be in a much better situation right now if we'd spent £30million on three proven quality players in that time rather than circa £100million on all that crap.
-
Look I agree we could do with some quality up front, but wanting us to find a 20 goal a season striker is mental. There are only two players in the league this season who have got 20+ goals, Salah and Son. Even the likes of Kane and Ronaldo haven't hit that and probably won't. In fact, it's only Son, Salah and Ronaldo that have got over 15. Let's be realistic about our expectations - a very good striker for our level will get between 10-15 goals with up to 5 assists, but more importantly will still affect the game even when he isn't scoring.
-
Brentford will have a bigger transfer budget than us this summer, they have a lot more saleable assets than us.
-
Would have been a mistake to stay and try to applaud the fans.
-
Saints fans chanting "you're getting sacked in the morning" now. First time I've ever seen the daggers come out.
-
Romeu now? He was needed at half time. What the fuck.
-
What the fuck is Ekoku talking about? A real wide player would solve all of our problems? Is he on about a fullback as when he first brought it up it was in criticism of KWP?
-
Apart from the defender that stepped across him and made the tackle. Ajer, a player long touted on here as being a player we should sign, wraps things up. We should be doing the fucking scouting.
-
Take Stu off for Dibling, fuck it.
-
Wasn't really through on goal was it.
-
Doesn't Elyounoussi play CM for Norway? And look much better for them than he does for us?
-
Broja needed to commit himself more.
-
Diallo cannot play as a deep lying midfielder. He's only ever looked good for us playing further up the pitch.
-
Ralph sat with his head down already, he just looks defeated all the time.
-
No subs at half time.
-
I actually think this formation would suit our attempted style of play more anyway. Three defenders to cover the back line and step up to midfield when we are pressuring, two CMs to held cover the break, width from the wing backs when attacking and three central attacking players to initiate the press.

I think I've just clicked why JWPs corners are so ineffective. It's not down to his delivery, as we know he can put world class crosses into the box. It's the fact that our set piece routines which we work on all week in training are versus our own keepers both of whom NEVER come off their line for corners. So in games when you come up against a keeper like Raya who loves to come and claim the ball, our well rehearsed routines are cut off at the source.

Direct, effective, and much more entertaining than whatever we're trying to do.
