  1. I seem to remember JP saying on Radio Hampshire that we had 'optshuns' on all of them. It doesn't really matter either way - if say Beattie was out for a long stretch, likelihood is Sheff Utd would want their man back now (similar for Pearce if Reading start losing ) We aren't looking for promotion, this is a project that will take two or three years to bear fruit (that's if it ever does). In that 2-3 years there will be players coming in and players going out, loans and sales. We need to roll with the punches and hope the replacements turn out to be better.
  2. Definitely not a 4-4-2. The only time it ever looks like that is when we kick off because the furthest forward midfielder (McGdrk) is waiting on the line to get forward.
  3. LOL @ Chris. Your loss mate.
  4. Only hearsay from a Stoke supporting mate. Probably no truth in it but he has no Lowe axe to grind in either direction.
  5. Ouch, where did that sad obsessive rant come from? I can't find one post on here that suggests we are still paying Davies but I am happy for you to point it out to me. We took Pulis on because we got a better deal (bigger transfer fee on Davies) from Stoke because we took Pulis off their books. Even discounting Pulis' wages this still made sense. I forget though, in your Lowe obsessed world no one ever wants to leave and players play for free.
  6. I agree Gordon, we'd be all better off if we all topped ourselves. Who's going first?
  7. I agree. It is a disgrace Give me some journeymen any day of the week.
  8. Ah yes, in the non-Lowe world injuries don't happen and we wouldn't have sold Andrew Davis (who is also injured - remind me how many times he has played for Stoke since we sold him?). That was a great bit of business.
  9. To illustrate where the money was/is going I have heard the following: Stern John was on £17K a week of which S/land were paying part of his wages for year 1. I suspect we are now subsidising part of his wage at Bristol City to get the bulk of his wage off the books. That's 2000 season tickets....
  10. I agree that no one can know the true figure. I do think there are many who use Lowe as a convenient excuse for nagging wife / credit crunch / young children etc. etc. In terms of true noble sacrifice I suspect we are talking 100's.
  11. I don't know Duncan, so my impression is only through his postings on here and occasional Daily Echo comments. That said, that impression is that his problem with RL has become personal and, for me, that devalues anything he has to say. Personally I am neither pro-Lowe or anti-Lowe, just pro-Saints. I want us to do well and, if a better option than Lowe comes forward I will cling to it like Kate Winslett to a table leg. I do think RL is a divisive figure but I don't think the attendance cost of that devisiveness is that significant (100's not 1000's of fans) and, as the abortive chanting showed on Saturday, if Saints play well then the devisiveness is irrelevant. What I do know is that we are in the financial doo doo and any boardroom shuffling or managerial shuffling will cost cash we don't have. IMHO, the final hand has been dealt and we have to play it. Hopefully it is a good enough hand to avoid relegation and administration. We need the support of all fans, pro or anti, to avoid both and I think Duncan's call is unhelpful. That said he's entitled to his opinion as I am to disagree with it.
  12. Ahem..... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=106139#post106139
  13. Several posters on here do the opposite. Who is employing them?
  14. A nice censorial view of a nasty man. Ian Smith supported the rule of Rhodesia by the white minority (they numbered 6% which is the same percentage as Rupert Lowe has in his minority rule of Saints). Given the parallels with Lowe and Ian Smith surely you are on the wrong side.... There's also a nice quote about Ian Smith on Wikipedia. "Smith failed to take advantage of opportunities, and in so doing, he came to appear both intransigent and indecisive." That sums up the anti-Lowe/lose and get him out mob - all mouth, no alternatives.
  15. Lazy journalism. Morgan is French. Arsene is French. QED he must be moving to Arsenal. Even the agent quote is a bit of a joke. It would have been more of a shocker had his agent dismissed rumours of a move, "I'm not interested in any more commission", said Richard des Voeux. When asked if Morgan was offered a £5m move to Arsenal, Richard des Voex said: "A January move is possible."' No ****!
  16. To be honest, during the game I thought the support was superb. One of the best this season.
  17. Ashamed to say I got into a slanging match with another fan after the Bristol City match. He called the players ****, I wanted to still encourage them. It made me think about who was right and I realised afterwards we both are. We're both fans. We both want Saints to do well (and are ****ed off when they don't). ...just the ways of showing it are different. Anyway to the person I told to "**** off and not bother coming" in Kingsland centre, I apologise. You're as much of a fan as I and are entitled to express your opinion in whatever way you want. (the apology doesn't stretch to the beardy bloke further to your right who complains from the first whistle to the last whenever there is a misplaced pass - there is a limit )
  18. And if it goes tits up, the mob will cheer for the "great satan" has left the club. Then they'll all look at each other and say "what now?" (kind of like Bush in Eye-raq - "Right Saddam's gone, who's got a plan?". I'm not sure what the plan b is - does anyone?
  19. See post #136 Thanks. You say "If an executive is involved in meetings to discuss team selection then IMHO it is wrong whether that be the England team, Chelsea or Saints." I suspect the meeting is not to discuss team selection. It is to discuss the team/squad - there's a big difference. Are you suggesting that the manager should not discuss with the executive whether Jack Cork's loan should be extended, we need a new right back or Svensson's injury is worse than we thought? "But there have been enough hints from some well respected forum members indicating his involvement" And yet there's been a statement as near to the horse's mouth (JP on this thread) as you can get that this is not the case, yet still you believe such ********. Pretty pointless. lowe not interfering in the team selections lowe not interfering in the team selections lowe not interfering in the team selections lowe not interfering in the team selections lowe not interfering in the team selections lowe not interfering in the team selections Any clearer?
  20. TBF, it would be covered by a non-disclosure agreement.
  21. Jesus, read what he said "lowe not interfering in the team selections, but a weekly meeting is held between JP,wotte, lowe and the coaching staff to discuss the team.lowe only came into the changing room to wish the team good luck. Which part don't you understand? Are you suggesting that JP and Lowe communicate about the team using codenames lest any subliminal preference is detected? Pretty certain the meeting is that they have is related to the strength or otherwise of the squad. All perfectly acceptable.
  22. I bet he's moaning about it on http://www.juveweb.com/forum though.
  23. I love stories like this. You know, where the innocent, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth fan asks if he could perambulate back to the railway station and gets called a ****. However, in your case I'm sure you were polite to them and they had no reason to be rude to you....
  24. And with that post there was a sudden surge of membership - the servers cannae take it captain!
  25. £5 has everything to do with it. Any impromptu or occassional poster will be put off by the registration process. I know you can post three times, but three times isn't enough to get hooked. I appreciate that money doesn't grow on trees, but an advertising model would encourage use, as opposed to discourage. No doubt poor form has had an effect too, but equally the negativity and repeated Anti-Lowe rants don't help. Some days this is more like a politics forum than a football one. Lowe / Wilde have a negligible impact on attendances and on forum use, they're just a convenient excuse for other reasons (X-factor, money, kids, weather, form, opposition etc.). It makes you hanker for the days when we lose, at least the wrist slitters have something to post about
