  1. Still one of the best film scenes ever....even in German
  2. I wonder whether the 1930s-50s fans with striped bobble hats and wooden rattles used to get this style grief too.
  3. Yep they are. I used to love the chants on the terraces and the surges forward making it like a mosh pit fuelled by alcohol. Football needs that atmosphere in part of the ground. Equally you need a section for the 9 year old and 75 year old that dont want someone standing in front of them and yelling "****ing cuuuuunt" in their ear all game.
  4. Nah it wasnt. At first for me it was meet my dad straight from working Saturday mornings at Vospers along with 20-30 of his workmates still wearing their workclothes and a load of their kids, quick session at the Woolston Social and walk up to the Dell. Later it was doing what you described - home and away every game, beer and chants. Now its 10 games a season with a mixed bag of two kids under 10 sister and brother in tow. At some point later maybe I'll have a flask and a blanket. Personally I find the jesters and hands a bit cringeworthy, but no worse than the skinny 18 years who bang the boards but couldnt explain the offside rule to you.
  5. Thats the trouble though - you think 'fan culture' is one thing. It isnt just single blokes aged 16-35 on the lash bantering, giving it large and dressing in co-ordinated labels. Never was, never going to be.
  6. Dune has £20,000 of the stuff. Thank God he managed to get out of the red bag.
  7. No no. I wont be happy until you change it for a picture showing somebody wearing stylish clothes of credible brands, in beige (sorry Caribbean caramel), white (ice white) or grey (moondust).
  8. Not a costume? So you think its a real human looks like that, or you believe in monsters? Anyway it shows up everyday on Saints football forum where all kinds of visiting fans will be thinking f*ck me, you really have got a massive proportion of goons in your fanbase haven't you". Perhaps it needs a new thread.
  9. Says the bloke with a duff costume as his avatar.
  10. As good as you remember? http://loyalsaints.myfreeforum.org/index.php?component=content&topicid=2648
  11. I dont give a stuff about what brands you buy. You're missing the point - which is that its easy to diss anyones choices and make out they are ****s for making those choices. No-one is the arbiter of good taste / humour. Each to their own.
  12. tbh I dont really mind what anyone wears, ideally a bit of individuality but each to own. I just find the intense concern on a webforum for what other people are singing, saying, wearing etc 'interesting'. Personally not that interested in clothes most of the time. Got a suit and DJ by Tom Ford, couple more by Paul Smith but workstuff is cheaper like Daniel Hechter or Baumler. In the past have had stuff handmade in shot silk and also bought from M&S or Primark or Top Man. I have no foam hands or face paint but my 22 year old nephew says dressing up as a smurf is the best way to pick up girls.
  13. Get a mirror for your house.
  14. You've been ****ged by the ship's cook?
  15. I hope you havent got Celtic blood Dune. I'd have to dob you in at the master race rallies.
  16. Im quoting from The Turkish book of fashion. He's still banging the drum for Ma Strum. Personally I dont object to what anyone wants to wear. Its the lame fake orthodoxy that ****es me off - marketers dreams
  17. Sorry, my small mistake - Tristan. Is that better now Trissy?
  18. Yep. He has a long and venerable history of running a Saints forum where he banned everybody who disagreed with him and when he was the only one left took to arguing with himself in different parts of the threads. Tres droll
  19. Adkins and Tom Werner.
  20. Im not sure why you like to address me as Timothy - that makes two, you and my mum. Whilst I can see the 'old woman' connections Im not sure what you get out of it. Perhaps you find it amusing or think that it bugs me. However since your name of Tristram is funnier, that explanation doesnt work either. Odd.
  21. Isnt because he wanted to good enough reason? I dont know why they do it either, I wouldn't, but a collection of people in rented outfits not taking themselves seriously is a lot less tedious than a set of 30 somethings wearing cloned clothes too young for them that they bought cheap from a guy off the net who got them as cut price seconds from the factory in Italy.
  22. It basically stems from an inferiority complex. Dress up in the right labels, hang around with other people who wear the same clobber and put down people who dont wear those labels and I'll be cool right? Er no, you'll be a sheep who betrays a lack of any independent thought. Last year Stone Island, this year Ma Strum, next year a lump of turd on toast if its photographed well and in the right magazines.
  23. Any organisation provides capacity based on expected demand. They then provide a bit of reserve capacity to cope with peaks in demand or unexpected reductions in supply. Most times that reserve capacity will be enough but once in a while you will get a freak series of events which mean that reserve capacity is used up. You can either pay extra to plug leaks / build reservoirs / pipelines etc which might only be needed once every 50 years or you take the lower cost and manage demand during those rare once in a generation periods. Not sure what the fuss is about tbh.
  24. Actually thats not quite true is it Dune?
  25. This. I gave up after a fww minutes.
