    Coronavirus

Different symptoms of Delta might contribute to faster spread rather than greater infectivity. Suggestion that the Delta variant is spreading faster because the symptoms are more like a heavy cold than previous covid variants so people think they are safe to go out. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57467051
  2. I was on a train once which had been held up for a couple of hours due to someone committing suicide on the line. Ad we eventually went past the site some people cheered and one banged on the window yelling “I hope it hurt”
  3. Looks like Boris’ plan of signing up to a crap deal, reneging on it and blaming the EU is falling apart . The EU are united and now the US is backing them in the dispute.
  4. Same. Typical punk era teen age rebellion would get you crucified now
  5. Losing all your best players and most of the rest every season because you can’t afford to pay them from May till August. Having to build a new team from scratch every year. Life is tough when you’re a small club struggling to survive at the bottom end of the football league. Arf.
  6. The idea didnt originate with Trump, it was already circulating in January 2020. He simply jumped on it months later.
  7. Tbf all three are probably better than Johnson and Hancock. Sunak seems competent and a good sense of direction. Gove is competent but shifty and socially out of touch. Raab - jury is out.

The sad part is that likely nothing will happen. Twenty years ago it would have been seismic but now standards of honestly have fallen so low they will probably be able to ride it out

  13. Peter Lilley, Edward Leigh, same old same old right wing dinosaurs.
  14. Semantics. The UK minimum wage raised wages (who knew?) and it didn't cause inflation - contrary to the point you made.
  15. Thats pretty odd since the post you responded too was all about minimum wages being raised.
  16. That was trotted out by rich people and stock holders when Blair proposed a minimum wage back in the last century. It didn't happen. The minimum wage is still rising. It still doesnt happen

I worked for Brighton Health Authority yonks ago and was involved in emergency planning. We had contingencies for 1, 5, 20 and 50% of the population becoming incapacitated or killed. Its just normal practice. The only thing which has changed is the advent of clickbait journalism - which you seem to love.

Are you insinuating prosthetic arms are poorly designed?

There isnt scaremongering over all of them. On average viruses replicate every 24 hours give or take and mutate about once every 10,000 generations. So if your'e infected with 100,000 virus particles you're creating 10 mutations a day. So there are billions of mutations but only a few are flagged up for concern and closer examination. There is a reason that India was only lightly affected in the first outbreak and hard hit in the second.

    Stamp Duty

Just plain extortionate as opposed to ludicrous Interestingly I saw a couple of days ago a billionaire businessman is planning to build 11,000 homes for permanent rent in Scotland . He reckons he can build a 1,500 square foot 4 bed house to a high standard and still cover costs at £700 pm.

    Stamp Duty

Exactly. In 1997 I thought about buying a big 1 bed flat in Dover street Mayfair for £81,000 when I was earning £34,000, so about 2.5 times income. Now £34,000 income inflation adjusted is about £63,000pa and that exact same flat is on the market for £1.9 million, about 30 times income

You can have international travel by vaccinated Brits and still be tight on quarantining non vaccinated international arrivals from other countries.
  24. Eisner in tribute to Catlin said that he had returned a profit every year he had been CEO. Would suggest that 1. They aren't paying huge wages and 2. Eisner isn't putting any money in.

You'd need an awful lot of unlikely mutations to occur at the same time for it to get really nasty - for example it becomes very transmissable, has a long period where the infected person is viraemic but has no symptoms (therefore takes no action to prevent infection of others) and then suddenly causes some kind of major illness which quickly causes death. So yes very highly unlikely but not impossible. Much much less likely than it simply becoming a mild illness
