There are two distinct latino votes. The people who fled socialist Venezuala and Cuba and largely settled in Florida tend to have brought wealth with them and vote Republican. The people coming up by land from Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico into California tend to be poor and vote Democrat

Immunity gradually builds immediately after exposure. I think three weeks is how long it takes on average to get close to maximum. There was case last week where a very elderly couple of 95 and 94, he with asthma as well were infected only a week after getting their first jab and both had only mild symptoms. With something like just over half of the over 80s having been vaccinated already plus the effect of lockdown filtering though I reckon deaths are just about at the peak.

The Republicans problem is that demographics have moved against them. Getting most of the white middle and upper class used to be enough to get elected, but its not anymore. They also need the working class nationalists Trump has brought in. The problem for moderate Republicans is how to ditch Trump, change policies but still keep the Capitol headbangers onboard

Sounds like an Express story. One woman swaps two vouchers for a packet of fags and its front page news. 3 million use the them as expected and no-one comments. Always, always, always the level of fraud is less than the cost of the anti fraud measures. It its costing £10.50 to provide five days of food which it is said to be worth £5.30 (looked more like around £3.50 to me) then you'd need a fraud rate of 50-65% to make it cheaper to not give vouchers

Part of the trouble is that Pelosi is a divisive figure too prone to party politicking and been around too long. The Democrats shouldnt have re-elected her a week or so ago and found someone younger fresher and with less baggage. Most of the senior figures in American politics are old. Steny Hoyer (House majority leader) is 82, Pelosi is 80, Biden is 78, Mitch McConnell is 78. Chuck Schumer seems like a baby at only 70. If Biden really wants to re-unite America he could start with a Congress and Presidential administration more reflective of the population.
