Of course not....

Gordon Taylor made a point of highlighting this fact in this interview here: http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/sports-breakfast/120724/taylor-carroll-modric-and-portsmouths-fight-survival-177226. The first 1 min 15 seconds covers it. (He didn't refer to Chainrai by name, but he said "The potential new owner doesn't want that to happen". As Pedg says, the media have seemingly decided not to explore this line of enquiry....

Top riposte that man! That should be cut and pasted to the comments section of every article that skirts over this seemingly unpalatable side of the story.

I'm in two minds. Part of me would like to see one or two 'stars' join us but the other part of me thinks that could upset the 'psychological' balance of the team that we've been building for the last 3 years. My gut feel is to give the relatively low profile approach a go for the first half of the season and revert to a 'plan b' in January if needs be. My confident levels are quite high at the moment.

They don't even know what the North Korea flag looks like. That's how remote and out of touch they are FFS! :-) -
QED..."it's all the players' fault". The spin is working I tell ye. Good Lord, I'm turning into OldNick! :-)

Someone somewhere must know someone who knows a decent journalist? One that can ask Chainrai: "What do you intend doing with the remaining parachute payments if you gain control of the club? You know, the payments the players would be entitled to if they stayed on after you takeover? And why aren't you prepared to compromise on your stance, like you're asking the players to do, in order to help save the club?"
-
Indeed. Journos don't seem interested in the Gordon Taylor statement. He's quite clearly said that compromise needs to happen on all sides, yet the media home in on the players as they know their punters will lap this up more than they will having a pop at potential future owners. It doesn't help that Gordon Taylor comes across as a wet blanket when interviewed. You'd have thought the highest paid union leader position in the country would attract someone with a bit more gumption. Does Bob Crow fancy a change of scenery?

All very well and good but he doesn't appear to be aware that the players have already made a massive "gesture" by way of wage deferrals since February. Sometimes recent Pompey history is airbrushed over quicker than the general public cotton on to what's been going on. Before you know it, people will have forgotten about the c.£150m debt that they've wiped out at the press of an F5 button...

I'll give our Andy 11 minutes to take the bait on that one... ;-) -
Levels of sensationalism are determined by the beholder not the event itself. If Bill Oddie discovers a new breed of Great Tit he'll experience a higher level of sensation that you or I (unless, of course, you are also into birds in a big way) Ergo, no one is right or wrong if someone describes something as sensational and someone else doesn't. It's been my pleasure to help dissipate the angst on this thread. I'm here for the next 7 years at least.

Chelsea sign Oscar. We'll never catch up with the number of midfielders they've got at this rate... -
I've just had a random thought....why don't Kanu, Haim and Kitson put in a £1 bid for the club at the 11th hour on the 9th August and run the club on a shoestring whilst pocketing the parachute payments as they drip feed into the club over the next couple of years, and then sell the club to whoever wants it afterwards. I'm trying to work out if there's a serious side to this brainwave. Probably not but thought I'd dump it here anyhow. Edit: hang on....maybe this explains why AA has started to represent at least one of the players...they are in collusion with Chainrai to do a variation on what I've suggested above.... On second thoughts....Go to bed Trousers...you're jabbering nonsense as usual...

Gazzaniga sounds promising... @TomCoull: Exeter 1-2 Saints XI. On the pitch, a great performance from Gazzaniga - really looked good. Well taken goal from Isgrove. #saintsfc

Actually, not as cringeworthy as i'd imagined, but yet another commentator stating as more or less fact that the players won't get anything in the event of liquidation. I'm hearing that so often now I'm starting to take it as factually correct...which I guess is the aim of everyone trotting out the same mantra....grind down the doubters...

Before I click on that link, how many facepalms will I require afterwards?

I see what you did there...

You forgot.... (4) a last minute rescue package from Redknapp and Storrie...

@pn_neil_allen: Chainrai wants the club, Andronikou around, trouble shifting Ben Haim, Kanu in contract wrangle. For #Pompey it's the summer of 2010 again. So, what are you saying Mr Allen...? That the club would be better off in the long run if they were liquidated now and start again with a clean slate? Or would you prefer the same head-in-sand mistakes to be made all over again? When will this chap realise we all want the same conclusion to this saga (albeit for slightly different reasons) :-)
-
So if a mate tells you he's going to burgle a house and you go along but wait outside in the car with dark sunglasses and the radio up loud you're in no way to blame for the crime taking place are you? Pompey fans....distorting reality and rewriting history since the beginning of time.

I read that as lazy journalism. As in " Saints in for a Celtic player = journo remembers we were in for Hooper last season so trots it out again to fill a few lines". Call me an old cynic... -
Steady...we don't want to upset Mr Allen too much....one step at a time... :-)
