There's a difference between speculating who we may or may not sign (hence me suggesting earlier in the thread that Barnes could/should be 'promoted') and getting cheesed off about something that hasn't happened yet. I tend to do the emotional stuff (e.g. 'getting cheesed off') once I know what's actually happened. Call me old fashioned.
Rather than try and read between the lines of Puel's broken English, I'm going to play my old fashioned card again and wait and see how things pan before forming a point of view on our January transfer dealings. Nothing is a foregone conclusion (apart from the eventual destruction of the known universe of course)
Ticks all of the "type of player that Saints would go for" boxes, plus the Puel connection of course.
Looks like more like a Tadic/Boufal winger/attacking midfielder than a Pelle/Austin striker though.
Yep. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Barnes on the first team bench sometime this month. I think he may have been ahead of Olomola in pecking order before he got injured?
It's ok... After our next manager takes the helm, Puel will take his rightful place alongside Pochettino and Koeman in the Saintsweb Forum Selective Memory Hall of Fame...
Saints proving yet again there's a fine margin between success and failure with the risk averse possession tactics that Puel has instilled in the team.
Whether we end up with more successes than failures at the end of the season remains to be seen.
Yes, it can be pretty dull at times but on a day like today it ends up being effective.
3 points in the bag. Top half of the table. Level on points with Koeman's Everton. We now only need 4 points in 5 games to be in the same position as last season after 20 games.
All to play for (apart from the Europa League of course!) and still too early to judge Puel IMO.
We march on...
