"Two weeks" I reckon...

The same "pissing around" that cost us automatic promotion in the first place...? #banter #twosidestoeverystory

Indeed... I don't think they could've made the P&O patch look more tinpot / amateur if they'd tried....

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/24496411.russell-martin-gives-latest-adam-lallana-ross-stewart-fitness/ I probably read too much between the lines on updates such as this but IMO it's a bit of a head scratcher when Russ says in one breath: "Ross picked up a little something [during pre-season] and now he's fine" but then says: "We need to get him through a couple of weeks of full training first before we can put him on the pitch. Otherwise, we are just risking something. He's in a good place now." Why does a player need "a couple of weeks of full training" when all that's happened is that he "picked up a little something" and is now "fine"...? If we had to wait two weeks for every player to recover from "a little something" then we probably wouldn't be able to field a starting 11....! It's a good job I'm not a conspiracy theorist otherwise I might be inclined to conclude we're still not being given the full picture here.... p.s. not forgetting that Russ said this two weeks ago (talking about ABK and RS): "When we go back [from Spain trip], he'll be ready, he'll be involved to train, and the same with Ross". So, two weeks ago Ross was going to be "ready" within a week. And now he's another two weeks away.... hmmm....

Any insight from Adam Blackmore on whether or not we're likely to see Ross Stewart on a football field this side of Hallowe'en?

That fella at No.6 in the list CDAJFU....

I've not really thought too hard about it (and therefore I'm likely to be pondering nonsense) but, from a purely commercial basis, could there be a business case for another relegation/promotion cycle to bolster the underlying finances for a more longer term stab at staying in the premier league...?

Fixed it for you...

It's "textbook", that's for sure...

Agree, but what I don't get is why people feel the need to put forward the same 'robust' view 74 times when once would suffice? I knew what everyone's view was on this topic about 7 pages ago. I'm not sure what everyone repeating the same thing many times thereafter actually achieves...

# devil's advocate klaxon # Why does it matter if that's Hypo's point of view? Why not let him have that point of view rather than trying to change it? What's wrong with different views sitting side by side, even if you think one view is 'right' and the other view 'wrong'? It takes dogma on both 'sides' for a debate such as this to go on ad-infinitum...

I guess what I'm getting at is that if I'd come on here and said "That Algerian boxer is male" and others then said: "no, she's a woman" I would've then said: "ok, fair enough, I disagree but that's fine" and the conversation would've ended there rather than turn into a futile 17 day debate... (The latter being fine, of course, if that's what floats people's boat)
-
To be fair to Hypo, that's how most human beings go about debating certain topics... Most debates on here go the same way... i.e. "I'm right, you're wrong"... "No, you're wrong, I'm right"... Etc etc. I'm always accused of "sitting on the fence" on here, but all I'm doing is keeping an open mind and acknowledging that there are always more than one way of viewing a situation rather than than the black and white world of 'right' and 'wrong'. I think Hypo's dogmatic approach to debating is much more normal and common than my approach. I rarely feel the need to prove that I'm 'right' and someone else is 'wrong'. Most debates are too futile for my liking. I guess life would be dull if everyone was as open minded as me though...

If we get a PL quality keeper, another CM of Downes' calibre, Brooks/Fraser replacement(s) and an actual centre forward that can put the ball in the back of the net on a semi-regular basis, then i can see us finishing as high as mid-table. If not, then rock bottom is inevitable I'd have thought.

Sticking your neck out there...

Translation: "We won't see Stewart this side of Hallowe'en"

Aye, it's an odd format. A bit like playing a game of football, being 3 nil up after 90 minutes then having a penalty shootout to decide who wins the game. (Better analogies are probably available!)

Well, there were a few "Russ can do no wrong" posters that surfaced last season.... Make of that what you will...
