Given our financial clout in the championship, our aim this summer should be to ensure that our strike force is amongst the best in the division, if not the best. If, when the transfer window ends, we're not in that position, then our transfer policy will have failed. In the immortal words of Huey Lewis: "It's as simple as that". As always, time will tell.

I'm not a paid up member of the Jan Bednarek fan club, but isn't he a decent player at Championship level and we're going to need a core of experienced players dotted around the squad. If we were linked to another 29 year centre back with 69 international caps to his name in a top 40 ranked country we'd probably think that was a decent catch for a championship side...?

I thought people used to cite his co-director Phil Giles as the primary brains behind the football operations at Brentford, with Ankersen riding on his coat tails? Or maybe that's some kind of urban myth that's arisen over the subsequent years?
