I doubt he'd cost much and Saints can blow Feyenoord out of the water on wages. Atlético Madrid reportedly made a bid of €2.5m for him earlier this summer which was rejected. So if that is the starting point on negotiations an agreed price isn't going to be out of our reach.

Still doesn't make it his fault. He clearly impressed enough in those seasons to return to the PL in big money moves and for a title challenger like Arsenal. Plus he has since those times been first choice for a PL title challenger (until recently) and is 2nd choice for England. He would be a massive upgrade on McCarthy. (In FM25 terms... he'd be our best player!)

So what? Niemi was relegated with us and many view him as one of our best ever keepers. Lallana and Schneiderlin were relegated to League One. Lavia and Livramento were relegated with us. Relegation doesn't mean every individual was the issue, not good enough or tainted.

How many players per position do you want them to have?

We have Archer, Brereton Diaz, Armstrong & Stewart. That is enough strikers or you start bloating the squad and struggle to keep them happy even though some will be dismissive of Stewart due to injuries.
