Under Hasenhuttl Saints are averaging enough points per game for a top 8 finish over a 38 game season. Suggests the player quality wasn't the problem... it was the poor management choices of Pellegrino & Hughes. Of course I'd like Saints to spend in the summer but the squad is not as bad as many like to make out.
6 points?
That would mean Cardiff City getting 11 points and a huge difference in GD(-15 to -30) from...
Chelsea (home)
Man City (away)
Burnley (away)
Brighton (away)
Liverpool (home)
Fulham (away)
Crystal Palace (home)
Man Utd (away)
Very hard to see them capable of doing that!
Puzzled why anyone would drop Ward-Prowse. He played 10 minutes for England on Monday so will hardly be exhausted on Saturday and is in the form of his life!
What does it have to do with "honour"? It is not his fault he was offered a big contract untill 2022. He is fully entitled to sit out his contract if he wants to.
I already explained what to make of it. The website has copied my FM19 guesses. I'm probably very wrong on many players but it isn't easy to guess at player wages for Saints as they rarely are in the press and just working off the total club wage bill of £113m.
The wage bill of £113m in 2017/18 means there are going to be a lot of very big wages throughout the club.
Educated guesses can be made by using the £113m total, the rare occasions wages are mentioned in the press and from various industry sources.
40 points has not been needed for the vast majority of a 38 game PL season. Unlikely it will this year either... especially with Cardiff, Brighton and Burnley's fixture lists.
Ralph Hasenhüttl has averaged 1.4 points per game in his 15 Premier League games in charge.
Over 38 games that equals 53 points. Last season that would be enough for 8th place!
Hughes 9 points in 14 games = 0.64 per game. Over 38 games = 25 points
Suggests player quality is not the issue... appointing Pellegrino and Hughes was!
He is a nightmare and barking mad as his dancing suggets. I sat near him for a match and he is constantly shouting profanities at the ref and opposition. When I say constantly I mean constantly it really is a non stop torrent of rubbish.
He has had success stories, these were all signed in his time...
van Dijk
Bednarek
Redmond
Romeu
Hojbjerg
Lemina
Gunn
Vestergaard
Plus numerous academy level signings.
Players will want to join the top 6 regardless of what they hear on international duty. Wages and higher quality football is what attracts them to move, not chats with potential future teammates.
