Ralph's not coming back. That bridge is burnt imo.

Personally I'd take bielsa managing the u23 option ahead of next season (What he wanted to do at everton).

Otherwise I'm pretty much what's the point in dredging the barrel for an interim (pretty much guaranteeing relegation) and maximising Jones payout. Wait to the summer and clean house(assuming we don't see a sudden upturn)

Read today that Ralph is going to Hoffenheim.

The best thing about Brexit is how it triggers people like you, but you are correct playing a back 5 is like being hamstrung by complying to the laws made up by the EU.

You mean the Laws (actually Directives) agreed by the EU when the UK was a leading member that often formulated those Directives, and were voted on by the democratically elected European Parliament. If "triggering people" is the "best thing about Brexit" that illustrates nicely what benefits Brexit has brought about. We wouldn't be having any problems with work visas for our new players if it wasn't for Brexit (just to get this back on topic).

  3. To be honest what that collage shows is that with a very few notable exceptions (Shilts, Niemi, Flowers, Jones, Martin) we have been consistent since the late 60s in having average at best goalkeepers (I am trying my best to be polite).

With 9? first team players in the u21 category, this means we now have 32 players in the first team squad, though that does include Lancashire and Vokins. Going to be quite a clear out in the Summer, whether we stay up or not, I would imagine. Pathway to the first team for our Academy players is currently blocked big time.

I really liked McCoist, until last night. Made me bring our a bit of vom again on Talksport this morning, quickly switched off.

You Sir, Alistair Sir, are henceforth added to the very long list of prize C*nts I do not like.

Thought McCoist was alright last night to be fair. Said a lot of good things about Saints (probably more than I would have). He's not going to have a love in with the Magpies is he, being a former Mackem. Think the mocking of Shearer for wearing a black & white scarf is nonsense as well, he's a fucking Geordie through and through, what do people expect, he probably hasn't even got a light blue scarf (unless its a faded Blackburn one).

I can't judge him on that first half, as he didn't seem to know where he was meant to be playing.  He was also being supported by Lyanco which isn't going to help anyone.

Didn't know where he was meant to be playing? That is the same as saying he didn't know what he was doing, he was awful, nowhere to be seen when Newcastle had some of their (many) attacks down their left, Lyanco left completely exposed (because of Lyanco's lack of pace), passes that he made were wayward. But as i said, it was his debut so will give him the benefit of the doubt based on his much improved second half when he had less defensive duties. Overall last night our passing was abysmal, we make so many problems for ourselves by not being able to find a team mate with a simple pass. Salisu was one of the poorest. I actually think we didn't play too badly overall, but Newcastle were just overpowering in the first 20 minutes or so

Bree was pretty decent last night.

Really, thought he was absolutely awful first half, looked completely out of his depth. Was much better in the second half when he was going forward more, but still his end product was woeful (at times). Still it was his debut so needs time, and will now get that if KWP's hamstring is as bad as it looked, proves that getting another FB in was necessary.

Raises the question - what do they see in him that we obviously haven't, given theirs and our current positions?

Looks like they see the same in him as we did when he was at Everton.

Has anybody thought, that we may not be able to recall him. Not all season long loan deals have a January recall written in. Just saying.

Tella has turned down the option to return (I read somewhere). You can't recall a loanee unless the player and the other club agree. I don't think we will see Tella in a Saints shirt again, he has fitted in well at Burnley, playing for a manager who rates him and the team will be in the PL next season. Ralph messed up Tella. It's not like Tella owes Saints anything, he was an Arsenal academy player, not ours. Shame because I think he will be good going forward.

Caicedo at Brighton has just posted this on instagram…got to feel a bit sorry for them really, they’ve been pillaged.

But there is no deal accepted yet, and guessing he’s trying to force a move….

Tino situation is getting quite concerning.

Sure this the whole point of signing Bree. Clearly since NJ arrived the situation with Tino has got worse. I would suggest they think it unlikely now that Tino will play any significant part this season. Therefore with only 2 specialist FBs in the squad (ignoring Vokins and accepting AMN does not want to play there) we need some cover, not a starter, someone who can do a job. Jones knows Bree and trusts him and fee is minimal, sounds like a good idea all round. Has no impact on the signing of a striker.

So, a right back from Luton Town was our first target? You really have got to laugh at the pathetic shambolic club we have become

Cover for Livramento who obviously is not going to play much/any part in this season. Low cost will do a job and not be too upset when Tino comes back. Seems sensible to me.

Diallo had a blinder?? Not sure what you were watching, but he was awful. Broke the play up on the odd occasion, passing was absolutely woeful. He sums us up at the moment, limited player in a limited team, playing for a limited manager.

Diallo was not awful last night, he was actually very good. Think you weren't actually watching last night but just going on past performances. I was expecting him to be poor and was distinctly annoyed when he was named ahead of Lavia, but he surprised me.

  14. Sounds to me like the ABK injury is worse than we thought. Bednarek will probably increase our og tally, that was certainly one of his strengths. But I understand he left because he fell out with Ralph so maybe a new start with new manager might work out.

Hate to say it but why are we buying Jackson when we have Tella doing so well on loan? Seems like money would be better spent on other positions.

Because Tella didn't want to come back (allegedly) and on a season long loan that is his perogative.

Moffi will go to West Ham. They throw money around very easily.

The fact we’ve been linked with Semenyo I think indicates the kind of player we’re looking for in the striker department; young, “promising” etc.

Personally I don’t think there’s anything in the Ings rumours, but no doubt we’d all take him back in a heartbeat.

Thought Moffi was going to Nice.

I wouldn't take Ings back in a heartbeat, he isn't the player he was the season before he left, 13 PL goals in 1.5 seasons with Villa even if not injured is not exactly scintillating. Always liked Ings but players do actually get worse towards the end of their career.

Villa have said they will not entertain a loan for Ings. Why would they, after all he is part of their match day squad and often  plays….

Thank goodness for that, not sure we have the spare capacity in the treatment room. Ings is well past it, we did well to get shotn of him when we did. He has been brilliant the season before.

I am intrigued by the word “amortise”. Can’t find it in a dictionary but I guess it means use “chicanery to cheat and cover up financial skulduggery”? A bit like what did for Pompey?

Chelsea and the like will kill football in the end. They know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

What sort of dictionary are you using? Perfectly common word, primarily in accounting but in general in English.
