Another disaster of a signing brought in with big fanfare. He can’t even take a throw in.

Definitely, when we do move to a back four, even more reason to bring in another midfielder. Especially as Smallbone and Aribo look to be off, numbers are sparse.

We don’t have enough players who can break up play at all, we looked so open yesterday. Of course we need creative players too, but a tenacious midfielder is a must in my opinion, especially if Downes struggles like he did against Stoke.

In all the years I’ve watched Saints, it always feels like when we go down to ten men, we absolutely crumble and when the opponents have a player sent off, we have no idea what to do.

Feel a bit sorry for Downs, yes he hasn’t started well but he was making so many runs in behind yesterday in the second half, if someone had even bothered to look and spot them, he would’ve had 2-3 chances in on goal.

As much as we need a number ten and some wide players, I think we’re desperate for another midfield option, we lack so much control in there, especially as that was one of Downes’ worst games for us at that level.
