  1. Agreed, but can’t blame Swansea for holding out if they’re technically correct per the contract wording and it’s a sizeable difference in sum.
  2. Saints are still a Premier League club according to, well, the Premier League. And I reckon they’d know.
  3. Can’t wait for DT to start his annual summer campaign of “why haven’t we done this yet?”
  4. It’s a strange one, can’t seem to find much that says when the league officially resets. What’s interesting is that the Premier League’s official website still lists Saints, Leeds and Leicester amongst their clubs, and don’t include the promoted sides. https://www.premierleague.com/clubs On the flip side….while Wikipedia shouldn’t be considered gospel, the page for all 6 clubs promoted to or relegated from the Premier League show their ‘league’ as where they’ll play next season. See Saints for example, who are given EFL championship. (Yes, wiki can be edited very easily). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southampton_F.C.
  5. It would be a hell of a thing to keep him. Sadly I think his ‘preference’ will be tested if/when his pay decrease kicks in and there’s offers to up his wages elsewhere.
  6. I can get to 10 leaving very easily. KWP, JWP, Lavia, ABK, Salisu will be the most in demand. AMN, Elmo, Big Willy and Theo are out of contract. Already hearing tales about Orsic being out the door, plus Perraud and Diallo having deals lined up. There’s 12, plus there’s others like DCC, Adams, Alcaraz and Bednarek who could quite feasibly be moved on. This squad is getting absolutely gutted.
  7. I think Phillips is a better player, certainly. Whether Newcastle can get him and afford his wages, don’t know. It would be a better signing but not sure if I see it happening.
  8. Completely different player to both Bruno and Joe Linton. Probably more similar to Longstaff, or maybe Willock. Newcastle have some great players but probably are a bit light in holding midfield. Declan Rice would be their ideal choice but I can’t see him going there so JWP might be a good one for them for a season or two until they can attract some really big names.
  9. Personally I think he’s off to Newcastle, I think he’s a good fit there. West Ham also as you mentioned, I could even see someone like Tottenham or Liverpool going for him, albeit in much more of a squad role (Tottenham are a bit of a mess, Liverpool look like losing their all-rounder in Milner with Henderson only getting older, I could see JWP slotting in there). Ultimately it comes down to price of fee and his wages. I believe JWP has many years left on his deal with us, so the club are in a reasonable place with that. But a big transfer fee (and wages) for a player who will turn 29 this year will put a few clubs off. I can’t see any scenario where he stays with us though, despite the fact that his destination market is pretty limited.
  10. Why have they been disrespectful? Selles is on a contract until the end of the season. Are the club supposed to wait until then to start looking for someone to replace him?
  11. So 2 shots all game, none on target, but we’re sticking with the same XI. Good one Rubes.
  12. My co commentator keeps calling Lyanco “Lyncow”. I like it.
  13. McCarthy is even worse than Bazunu.
  14. Comical defending, comical finishing.
  15. Fucking hell how has he missed that?
  16. Brighton very quick on the break, we seem to be most vulnerable when we give away posession up the pitch.
  17. Yep. Germany and some other countries have standing which is less restrictive than this. England is one standing space = one seated space and is mandated by Government. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/safe-standing-at-football-stadiums-to-be-rolled-out-next-season Under licensed standing, fans are allowed to stand for matches in allocated spaces behind a barrier or a rail in areas of persistent standing. Each supporter has to occupy the same area they would take if they were sitting, with a traceable, numbered ticket. Seats cannot be locked in the up or down position, so fans can can sit if they wish to, and the standing areas cannot affect the views of other fans. Other parts of the grounds remain all-seated and fans are expected to sit in these areas.
  18. To be honest I can see us losing more than an entire team, and we’re going to need replacements in almost every position. I think Bazunu stays, and hopefully Livramento too given the nature of his injury. But I could put together a proper XI of players I think will leave: Big Willy, KWP, ABK, Salisu, Perraud, Lavia, JWP, AMN, Alcaraz, Adams, Walcott. Then add in others that could go; I’m thinking Stephens will go, Bednarek might get some interest, Orsic will surely go, Eluseless and Diallo look likely to be off, and there’s been reported interest in others like Lyanco and DCC. So, yep, this is going to need a monumental overhaul if just half of those players leave.
  19. Well, not exactly an inspiring choice at first glance but I’m going to remain open minded about it all and just hope for the best. An important factor is to get someone in very early to oversee the squad overhaul and start to build a team in their mould. So that could be a positive.
  20. I’m going to miss our games against Palarse, Chelski, Liverpoo, Man Shitty, Foolham, and the rest of them. Although, guilty pleasure: albeit a relatively uncommon saying, whenever I hear of the Arsenal referred to as as Bumnal or The Bummers it does make me titter somewhat.
  21. 😆 and now the echo have cottoned on to the fact that their poll is redundant, they’ve removed the feature to view the results.
  22. Fun over. In yet another show of obsession about us, the skates have got hold of the poll and are piling in on Gavin Bazunu. He used to play for them, you see.
  23. Big Joe now clear in third and has his eyes on second spot. Get those votes in for Joey Slow!
