In fact, thinking about it, we should probably push for a ban from alcohol in pubs. Especially those showing football. Imagine that; a goal goes in, beer everywhere. No thanks. How? What would happen that would make it fundamentally much worse than it is now? Again, how? What is going to happen by allowing someone to take a plastic beer to their seat? I genuinely don't get where you're coming from. You make it sound as if there's a total alcohol ban at St. Mary's. You make it sound like its impossible to get a beer before the game, during the game, and at half time. You make it sound as if the current solution, of having a 20 minute half time window for a beer with massive queues then encouraging people to down their pint in time for the second half is the ideal solution to the "English hooligan problem". Genuinely, what will happen that is so terrible if we start allowing people to take a plastic cup of beer to their seats instead of downing them in the concourse pre-match and at half time? Most people go to watch the game and would perhaps just buy a pint before the game to take to the seats and buy one at half time to do the same for the second half. You're not really adding much extra drinking in to the mix as to be afraid of a UEFA ban from football, surely? What am I missing?

And town centres these days are much improved from just 5 or 10 years ago. CCTV and increased police presence, its much changed from what I can tell (I only very very rarely go into town on weekend evenings out any more, and I've noticed its massively changed since I used to live right in the centre). Its a draconian and outdated policy to ban drink for footy games; especially while allowing exactly the same grounds to sell booze for punters watching a different sport. I'm surprised there's still people who agree with such an irrelevant law any more. I'm not even sure what the justifcation is for banning drinking while in sight of the pitch, it makes no sense and as has already been said encourages people to actually neck their drinks quicker. Its a rule which drifts right the way down the leagues; i was watching Romsey Town last summer, beautiful sunshine and I couldn't take my pint outside to watch the game. Ridiculous.

You just know that an outfit that can't even get lager poured right is going to have a total mindmeld when it comes to serving a decent pint of ale. Quite amazing how we've still got amongst the worst service and standard of beer of pretty much any other club I've been to recently. All made worse by Cortese's promise to do something about it when he took over, and if anything it's got much worse. The service in the Chapel is absolutely atrocious; just 2 kiosks selling beer, you have to get down to the concourse 5 minutes before half time to avoid queueing, its a complete shambles.

Wow. What a naive post that is. Yep, the UK is definitely the only place in the world that has town centres with p*ssed up citizens. Have you ever heard of Germany, perchance? There's a reason they're world renowned for brewing beer, they drink sh*t loads of it.
