  1. What a weird statement. Despite SaintsWeb not actually having a collective voice, and a few people in this thread suggesting he would be a good signing, you came to that conclusion. Very odd.
  2. So likely to be another complete waste of time then? Cheers.
  3. Heard from who on twitter? Dave the cleaner? Or someone who might actually know?
  4. Of course you could argue that the boom in further/higher education has led to a dearth in number for more hands-on trades such as engineers, plumbers, electricians etc. Nothing wrong with further learning, just a shame that the stigma of a university degree was placed much higher than previous Poly qualifications and other youth training schemes.
  5. I don't think any of Cork, de Ridder or Fox were signed on a Friday. So the law of averages says I'm definitely correct this time round. Edit: Hmmm, it seems we signed de Ridder on a Friday. I may be onto something after all....
  6. I'm going to predict that, in our style for announcing signings on a Friday, J-Rod will be unveiled as a Saints player tomorrow. Watch this space......(or not, as is more likely).
  7. That's not really true, Connolly has been taken off around 60 or 70 minutes in the games so far. And that's with only Steve de Ridder available to replace him. I get the feeling NA is extremely reluctant to risk Conners with 90 minutes of football, which is not a great place to be with a supposed first choice striker. Any new signing is immediately going to be pushing for a starting position; Connolly has been doing well but in now way will have cemented his place in the side as Lambert has.
  8. The Government have nothing to do with the actual sentencing.
  9. First of all, I don't think there is a someone that could do the job AND be happy to just be a back-up to RL. We already have Connolly and Barnard who are fairly similar in style; the strikers we're being linked with (Rodriguez, Maynard) are different again, and you could see them them playing with either Lambert or Connolly/Barnard, so it opens up a lot of different options. If we did have to cover for Lambert then out of our current players the only person I could see to getting close to doing it is Guly.
  10. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/7862734.stm The beginnings of the protests against Lowe. I don't know why I'm bothering, this whole argument from both sides is a bit pointless. But this was one of the earlier protests which then led on to boycotts of home games, that's just a fact. Edit: Might also want to read this article from the Daily Echo: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4066097.One_fan_s_despair_for_club_he_loves/ about a season ticket holder encouraging fans to boycott the next home game.
  11. The Ipswich fanzine match report claimed the move was started by a ball " to the probably offside Lallana", I so watched it back at the time. The camera angle isn't great, but unless there's a player way out of shot playing Lallana on then he looks very clearly offside.
  12. Good player. Terrible manager.
  13. To hit the green post from the angle chopra shoots from, the ball would have to go through the goal. Unless he can bend it like Beckham.
  14. I must be watching a different highlights package to others above. It clearly comes back off the bar. The bar (and upper netting) visibly shake, this just wouldn't happen if it hit the green post. Also, watch Dan Harding's position all the way throughout. He is looking at the ball the whole way. You don't think he'd notice and appeal if the ball hadn't travelled an extra 6 yards out, and 6 yards back into play?
  15. And while the crossbar and whole netting shook from the impact of the ball.
  16. So you're suggesting the ball hit the external stantions? My apologies, that's even more ridiculous.
  17. Can you point out where the stantions are please? Or anything other than the post/bar that might cause the ball to rebound in the way it did.
  18. Aside from the fact that the goal doesn't actually have any stantions, you might be right.
  19. What on earth are you talking about?
  20. My matchday eating and drinking experience is a very finely tuned process: Beers. Pub lunch. Beer at the ground. Game starts. Whiskey from hip flask. Half time beer. More whiskey from hip flask. Post match pub beers. Takeaway and home.
  21. Good player, but probable attitude-problems and his career seems to have been going backwards for a few years. A Hull-supporting mate told me an interesting rumour about him; that when Hull originally wanted to sell or loan him off their books they were looking at shelving him to Celtic, who were sniffing around. The allegation is that Bullard was prepared to do it only if Hull continued to pay his wages (around £45K per week) and Celtic also chipped in £30K per week on top. True or not, aside from that he seems a bit of a mercenary anyway and as I said, his career has been in decline since his Premier League days.
  22. Let's not get carried away; as I mentioned a few posts above, you're only in tenth place for now......
  23. Millwall have imploded.
  24. With all due respect; would it not be prudent (before spending a whole load more money on another untried system) to find out which setups similar football forums use, and emulate one of the successful ones?
