  1. VVD ****s up again.
  2. ^ LOL Nice one. I guess he doesn't write them himself.
  3. Me thinks that the saggy one likes to be in the limelight and is missing it somewhat, so had to poke his head over the parapet every now and then to remind us all what a big man he is in the world of football.
  4. +1 I fell asleep during the first game (was it vs Latvia?) and didn't bother watching the Lithuania game more than for a few minutes while I made some food. When we scored, I didn't even bother leave what I was doing to watch the replay. I am sure that part of it is because UEFA have made most of the qualifiers excruciatingly boring by having a record 53 teams in the qualifiers and increasing the number of teams that qualify for the finals (24). Then you look at the players and management and they are enough to send you to sleep. What has changed since the WC in Brazil? Nothing . We were **** there, and we'll be **** at the Euros. So what that we won all 10 games? The only team of any consequence was Switzerland, although we tried our hardest to **** it up against Slovenia. I really haven't bothered watching any of the games. I use it as an excuse to get away from the Mrs, so I guess it is useful. But it's rather like F1. Jazz it up as much as you like, it's still ****ing boring and if I am going to watch it, it will be on in the background while I do something less boring instead. What a sad state of affairs the game is in at the moment, where a regular attendee of league/cup games at club level is happy to abandon the national side through boredom. Well done UEFA. Well done FA.
  5. I guess it's a little different from our previous manager who said that he had a contract and didn't see what all the fuss was about to extend it, to then bugger off at the first opportunity.
  6. Do you think we "suffer" any worse than any other team on the pages of the Mail? Well, exclude Liverpool and Manchester United in particular, and the other big teams. Looking at today's footie section it is hard to get past them creaming themselves over Klopp and England and there is very little club news. Apart from the negative article about Koeman, there is the positive one about JWP. There's a bit about Fat Sam and then there is this..........http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3270324/Alan-Pardew-naive-signing-Yohan-Cabaye-Crystal-Palace-backed-patchy-manager-big-money-player.html Now compared to the article about Koeman, this is a nasty vindictive piece, written by chief-**** Durham
  7. Problem is, if a paper wants a story, knows that the club will rise like a tame trout, they can print whatever ballcocks they want knowing they'll get a reply and then they can twist it as they want. Selective quoting is the usual one. Having said that, I do agree with you though. There are ways of doing it that are unofficial in nature but are the official line. Yes, you might be right. But taking the moral high ground never really does anyone much good.
  8. It such a boring meaningless game that I gave up watching it at 1-0. Glenda banging on how wonderful Kane is. Tylsley taking utter shït as usual. ITV is so poor with its pundits.
  9. If rumour be believed he might well be replacing Dim Tim in the not too distant future should results not go well.
  10. Elliot on the bench - Randolph between the sticks.
  11. Am all for football players and management getting out and about. There's too much them and us going on in the footballing world at the moment.
  12. Darlow is injured. Gazza on (emergency) loan?????
  13. That is very true. RB suffers for being in a non top 6 side. We have seen the press do it for years and years, and England managers tend to do the same.
  14. seem a fair few left. I bought some last night when I was half cut, made a complete balls up of it (as I had tried to get my ST seats but failed), rang up this morning, got them cancelled and reorderd the ST seats and the one next door as well for my nipper.
  15. It is amazing how the "it's a huge blow to British managers" has been wholly replaced by "It's a gift to the whole Premier League" bull's hit. Why is it a gift to the PL? It will be interesting to see what happens if he cannot bring any success to them.
  16. Don't really care what F365 think of him. I have little interest in the national side at the moment, and Bertrand is what we have and not Shaw so really rather pointless comparing the two. Shaw is improving though, but still has that huge hole in his game - he can't use his right foot. Also, I suspect RB is more likely to score a goal.
  17. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3266820/Jurgen-Klopp-Liverpool-FC-boss-big-gift-Premier-League.html This sort of sums it up for me. Why should those non-Liverpool supporters be glad that Klopp is going to Liverpool and whether or not he can make them box-office again? "Klopp appeals to a wider audience than Gerard Houllier or Rafa Benitez did" - so ****ing what? "People will hang on his every word. Everyone will be watching Liverpool" - I for one won't. Arrogance.
  18. Was so entertaining that I fell asleep at half time and missed the 2nd half.
  19. No one is doubting their history. I first got the hump with them when we were banned from Europe. It might not be a big deal for them, but for a smaller club like us it is. But that was a long time ago. But since then, their arrogance almost (although some will say it does) comes across as a sense of entitlement, and boy aren't we all reminded of their history. Man Utd who have more reason to crow about success aren't half as bad as the Scousers. Then there is the fawning by the press. And recently Rodgers hasn't endeared the club to Saints. I'm sure others have their own reasons. But that view might be jaundiced by the presence of Rodgers so things might change!
  20. Absolutely, and that "annoys" me (I put that in inverted commas as it is a football annoy which in the real world isn't an annoyance at all as I am completely ambivalent about it). The media and many others think that we all want Liverpool to do well because of their specialness. Well I like many others really don't. When they fluffed the title I was delighted. As for Klopp, I really don't care too much if he succeedes or not. We have never finished above Liverpool, and the aim is to finish above them and everyone else. How he progresses will be viewed with more curiosity than anything else, and if he does badly then there will be a wonderful schadenfreude as the Scousers moan and go into meltdown.
  21. To be fair to the Pool fans, the media is dribbling over themselves from all orifices when it comes to Klopp, so it might be understandable that they get carried away with things. It's a quietish week for them and they like to over egg things to levels that become delusionally boring, something that they seem to do an awful lot with Liverpool. But managing the second biggest club in Germany (or biggest by crowd) and coming 1st twice, 2nd twice, 5h, 6th and 7th is, while a job well done (apart from the 5th, 6th and 7th) is hardly surprising or earth shattering. Nor is it out of the ordinary for Dortmund. They won the Bundesliga in 94/95 and 95/96, and the Champions League in 96/97 while being semi finalists in 97/98. As for his record with Dortmund, given that the German leagues are even less competitive than ours, with the same 3 or 4 teams always dominating, a record of played 318, won 179, draw 69, lost 70 might not be as good as it could have been. Anyway, no doubt they will tonk us when we go up there and he will be proven to be rather good.
  22. I think that there does seem to be a certain lack of realism about all this. Why they think he is going to suddenly propel LFC to the title, is anyone's guess. However, it is a shame that they have us as their first home game under him - dead cat bounce and all that.
  23. At least he took a touch before pulling the trigger, albeit his typical mis-control with his shin.
  24. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sIQYMUrYeA Shane Long scores vs Germany
  25. FFS what is up with him? 3 goals in a week!
