  1. Medical stage http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3217975/Virgil-van-Dijk-closing-10m-Southampton-Celtic-defender-undergoes-medical-St-Mary-s.html
  2. I'm not going to read the article because of who wrote it, but the headline is something to bear in mind with the stance we take.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3217883/Everton-applauded-stance-John-Stones-prevent-signing-ambitious-young-players-future.html
  3. It will be interesting. Apparently he isn't having all his wages paid, or according to a news report, so who knows the accuracy of that!! Man Utd being linked heavily. Wouldn't do them any harm as cheap, English and has a season in the PL. They seem happy to splash £35m on a 19yo kid who is good but hasn't done anything spectacular or anything to justify the price tag. Actually I don't understand that one at all. Seems you have to pay a £25-30m premium on potential - makes Morgan look cheap!! Yup, but......would be interesting to see if he could do it in a Saints shirt.
  4. When are we going to have this resolved? Reckon it will be on page 50
  5. It seems that partnerships very often make a player look better than he is. The obvious one recently seems to be Fonte and Lovren. Svensson/Lundekvam was another. Maybe Romeu and JWP is something that clicks and will work. Still, it's but one game so we'll see what happens.
  6. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3217024/Southampton-block-Tottenham-s-efforts-sign-Victor-Wanyama.html Good. Club supposedly (I know, it's the DM) tells Spurs to jog on.
  7. OK OK. so it was a month rather than a week.
  8. £300k a week. Unbelievable Jeff (and we are paying him £100k a week? Unbelievable Jeff)

    Fact transfers

Are you saying that it is impossible for PL football players to be gainfully employed after their paying career comes to an end? Ridiculous argument oft trotted out by ex players to try and justify the obscene wages that the players at the top earn.
  10. Roger, While it seems you know him (possibly!), it is ridiculous to throw your toys out because a contract isn't to your liking. Has he thought of saying that he doesn't like it and try and negotiate, or do you think making yourself unavailable for selection is the best method of proceeding?
  11. Reality and football seem to have parted company....again. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3216942/Anthony-Martial-scout-report-Manchester-United-target-reminiscent-Arsenal-legend-Thierry-Henry-idle.html I'm sure he is good, but £36m!!
  12. Could have sold him last year to them for £14m IIRC. Put's Long's £12m into a bit more perspective.
  13. I'm not sure I want him back, but at the same time, I don't want to sell him. We've got to the stage, where other clubs and agents seem to think that they can cause a situation at will and the player will leave. It is a situation of our own making, and even the stance with Morgan last summer hasn't changed that. We need to reverse this, and it hopefully continues on from the Morgan situation. If Wanyama and his agent thought that they could engineer a move, then they aren't that bright. And I agree with Alpine - **** Spurs.
  14. To me it is the agent and Spurs. Spurs realise that they really aren't as good as they thought they were. Maybe they seriously thought that they had a chance of signing Morgan - the whole footballing world knows that they are delusional. So after that, maybe they scrambled around to try and find someone. Maybe they thought that they would be OK, but then after a few games realised they weren't. As I mentioned earlier, 2-0 up against Stoke, to then throw it away, Toby comes out on 15th/16th August with the "at Southampton, Victor Wanyama and Morgan Schneiderlin put good pressure so they didn't have time to put the ball in the box - it makes it easier for defenders" and then it all takes off. Wanyama unhappy, wants to leave, blah blah blah. Whether you can blame him for the European **** up is a matter of conjecture. I don't know how much a team spirit is affected - sure it can't be positive, but is it that disruptive? I am really annoyed that we did not qualify for EL and yes, his performance in the first leg against the Danes was bad, and his attitude for the 2nd was even worse. Anyway, having Romeu here makes things better. While not so physically imposing, he is a better player. Some of his long balls were Morgan-esque and he has a bite in his game. Maybe him and Clasie or him and JWP, will be more than good enough.
  15. Lol. There are private planes.
  16. Saw in the news somewhere that Man Utd are in for Charlie Austin. They need CFs rather than wingers, so this makes more sense than Mané.
  17. Not necessarily. Hence why Iraq and Libya got clobbered. http://www.rferl.org/content/article/1095057.html http://havacuppahemlock1.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/libyas-gold-dinar-oil-for-gold-killed.html And if one wants to be pedantic (and why not after our win today) it isn't "ie iron ore" it is "eg iron ore"
  18. Who wants to bet that Clyne starts both games????
  19. His performance against Midtjylland (1st leg obviously) was nothing short of woeful. Against Watford it was equally so. Is it my imagination or has this all sprung up after Toby came out with the comment after throwing their 2-0 lead away that it was easier playing behind Vic and that he offered great protection?
  20. Is it just me who thinks that LVG is over rated?
  21. Everyone speaking a little cryptically as I don't do twitter either!!
  22. Missed the bit with Sky as I don't have it and was at the game.....what's the beef?
  23. FFS, this Cork thing. He moved for well known reasons, and he also took a pay cut from what was being offered.
  24. LiverpoolFF ‏@LiverpoolFF 2h2 hours ago Lovren has deactivated his Instagram account after receiving abuse following today's game. Oh dear.
