  1. Not quite. We need to let a manager build "his" team and then try and keep the manager for a few years.
  2. As well as being a Man U obsequious and sycophantic toady.
  3. And here it is.....http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3207372/Victor-Wanyama-tells-Southampton-unhappy-wants-leave-midfielder-refusing-discuss-new-contract.html Unsettled and unhappy.
  4. Bit of a Catch-22 isn't it? I've gone into pragmatic mode. Nothing I can do about it (apart from buying my season ticket or not). Therefore have poured myself a nice big glass of Bourbon.
  5. I don't think that that is the problem and we all realise that. It's just the manner it is done in that is so unattractive.
  6. Won't believe it until Simon Jones in the Mail posts a story up
  7. Reckon this is my last year. Only carried on as my old man liked it, but he's got dementia now.
  8. Paaaaaaaaniiiiiiiiic
  9. I remember the 6-1 game quite vividly.
  10. This Long £12m...answer me one question - as the club stated that they wanted someone with PL experience (and yes, I agree with them that it was important), which PL striker apart from Long would you have liked Saints to have signed, which also includes the ones we could actually sign? And while one is at it, might as well look at what Hull did with the money they got - their replacement was even more expensive if you consider Long's 4 year contract to Hernandez's 3 year one. Things changed in the transfer market, and Long was one of the ones at the beginning along with the likes of Ross McCormack. Look at Britstol City this year offering £9m for a Championship player.
  11. Or maybe Dutch CB to be announced Wednesday (after Celtic CL match), and the reporter has put 2 and 2 together and got Vlaar, rather than (hopefully) VvD.
  12. That's very different from what you posted - "Our main objective is to stay in the Premiership and make a profit as a 'solid' Premier club." - you seem happy just to make up the numbers. And really, it's a little silly of you to go on about buying a season ticket at a plastic club. Where have I said we should be going for winning the league or CL. There are those that constantly whinge and compare us to other clubs, which would suggest that they might be happier elsewhere. Me, it's Saints or nothing. I like to be melodramatic about things and say nothing comparing us to other clubs, but come renewal time I seem to renew. But hey, one day (soon no doubt) I just won't bother. I constantly say that the league as it is a nonsense where only 2 or 3 teams can win it, so I do question even being part of it. If we are just in the Premier League to secure our place and make a profit, then not sure that's really that appealing. I'm not sure how old you are, I suspect quite a lot younger than me. I've found the appeal of football, while still strong, has waned over the years. I currently find the incessant bigging up of the Premier League rather tiresome. I realise Sky and BT need to constantly glamorise it to keep it at the top of everyone's mind so that they can get money in to offset the ridiculous amount that they pay out. I am sure that I would find it less boring if they didn't go on and on and on about the biggest clubs (which they have to to appeal to the most number of people), or maybe it would be less boring if I was a supporter of those clubs. talkSport, Mail, Mirror, blogs, etc etc - they all do the same thing. But I support little old Saints, and I realise we are at the party just to make up the numbers. As I say, age can make one look at things differently. I think that we both agree that there is, in the PL, the top 6 and then the rest. You obviously are happy for SFC just to make up the numbers and maintain the laissez-faire - that's of course fine. Me, I find it a little pointless and would love things to change. I'm not naive enough to think it will, so the obvious option is for me to give up football.
  13. "Our" - who is this "we" business? If that is the aim of the club, which I suspect it's not, then I for one can't really see what the point of just making up the numbers is. But hey, I'm sure that they won't miss my £1500 a year I spend on season tickets.
  14. Prefer him at RB than CB.
  15. Strange how people see the game differently from each other. Not just slightly, but massively so. I thought, like some others, that Romeu looked good last night. Agree with Give it to Ron, that he was our best player last night - I know that that is subjective, but he looked calm and assured there. I think that he might be a really good signing. His only "crime" might not be that he isn't Morgan, but that he isn't English like Reed.
  16. Well **** it. I'm going to get ready for the game. If he plays tonight all the better (unless he plays badly). If he doesn't, then, well that's modern day football for you and guess one has to look at what profit the club can make on him and who they can get in as a replacement. For men may come and men may go, But I go on forever.
  17. Wow - it's gone from £15m to £25m in 24 hours. Could people just be pulling numbers out of the air?
  18. Mail says a lot of things.
  19. Wow, Paul Mitchell must be working his socks off if that is all he can come up with. I imagine they'll offer us £10m. Personally, and I am sure that others will disagree, defensively he was better than Morgan. So that will be up in the same sort of territory £25m-ish which Levy won't pay. So why even bother enquiring? Levy has actually stated that the days of the £20m+ signings are over and that they are going for £10m ones. Big Vic doesn't enter that category so they can just jog on and stop wasting everyone's time.
  20. Why would you want to take a box load home?
  21. I look at the first goal at SMS against Vitesse and got quite excited for the forthcoming season. If he can do that week in, week out (which there is no reason why he shouldn't) then there will be large number of servings of humble pie. Just a reminder for those who might have forgotten:
  22. Rangers had a transfer embargo so needed to plan ahead.
  23. And to add to the above, as we have absolutely no control over who comes and goes (save for not buying tickets) there really isn't too much point beating yourself up about things.
