Yes, you're probably right on this one and asking who was worst at rumours was possibly ill placed but more to do with clubs playing things out in the press. JRod seemed to be the one they were keen on, and this is their nº2

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
angelman replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
The Shane Long fee was high but.... £12m for 4 years = £3m per year Hernandez who was dross, was £9.5m for 3 years which is a bit more. IF Long can play like he did against Villa week in week out, then it would be interesting. -
Did the print at home for the FA Cup last season and had barcode.

I feel a bit sorry for Lambert. Saints > Liverpool > WBA??...but then I remind myself it was his choice and he is being paid a fortune.

How about Ryan Shawcross? -
Not trying to be revisionist, but last season, I thought as a defensive rock, Vic was more prominent than Morgan. He made a big step up last season. Cut out the silly short passes etc etc, kepy it simpler and better.

Looking at 250% but can't see details
-
Are we to presume he is not coming back? His number 22 from last season has been assigned to Stekelenburg

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3170630/Liverpool-XI-Christian-Benteke-joining-Roberto-Firmino-s-Brendan-Rodgers-line-season.html I know it's the Fail, who have included Digne in a possible starting XI even though he hasn't signed for them!! -------------Mignolet------------- Clyne - Skrtel - Sakho - Digne -------------Can------------- ----- Henderson - Milner ----- - Coutinho - Benteke - Firmino - To be honest, I can see that happening. So where does that leave Lollana, Lolvren and Lambert? Where does that leave the other players signed? I have no idea why Ings wanted to move there as it was plain to see that Liverpool would sign another striker. They are spending big and are getting a good contingent of English bench warmers.
-
So Liverpool now have the following centre forwards... Sturridge, Benteke, Ings, Balotelli, Origi, Borini and Lambert. They also have a fair few foreign players Mignolet, Bogdan, Sakho, Lovren, Skrtel, Ilori, Touré, Moreno, Enrique, Can, Lucas, Coutinho, Firmino, Teixeira, Markovic, Benteke, Balotelli, Origi, Borini. I make that 19. So they basically need to sell or drop two from their PL squad. Borini and Balotelli are probably the ones, and if they sign anyone else, they'll need to shift some more or keep and not include them in the PL squad.

Most-watched premier league team in Southampton...?
angelman replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Yup, typical nonsensical article that so proliferates the "press" these days and is aimed at people who are thick as 2 short planks. Not sure where the figures are, but Liverpool, Man Utd etc were televised something like 27-30 times. We on the other hand were the usual 11-13 times. -
Not quite sure where transfermarkt get their figures, but for Osvaldo they are saying £10m.
-
Not quite. Spurs are up £11m for all transfer activity since 2012/13, the only club to be like that (ie spent less than they have sold) in the PL for that period. But yes, their spending, while within a very good budget has been pretty crap.
-
With the ever rising amounts of money being spent, I thought that I would go onto http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ and see what PL clubs had spent since (and including) the 2012/13 season. I have added £32.5m for Benteke to Liverpool/Villa. I guess it's no surprise other than Spurs's transfer policy isn't as bad as one might think, and Palace have spent a **** load (which includes a season in the Championship). Newcastle supporters continued complaints about the owner, seems to have a net spend nearly 3 times ours. I know that this is only tansfer fees and doesn't take into account wages (which would change Sprus' position a bit), but I had a spare minute and thought it might be interesting. Man Utd - bought 313.79 - sold 55.83 - balance 257.96 Man City - bought 251.83 - sold 97.99 - balance 153.84 Liverpool - bought 271.54 - sold 149.36 - balance 122.18 Arsenal - bought 167.29 - sold 78.54 - balance 88.75 Chelsea - bought 271.67 - sold 196.79 - balance 74.88 West Ham - bought 81.45 - sold 12.52 - balance 68.93 Sunderland - bought 88.26 - sold 32.35 - balance 55.91 Crystal Palace - bought 55.52 - sold - 13.48 - balance 42.04 Newcastle - bought 76.6 - sold 47.59 - balance 29.01 Everton - bought 69.93 - sold 46.73 - balance 23.20 West Brom - bought 31.54 - sold 12.20 - balance 19.34 Saints - bought 137.30 - sold 126.51 - balance 10.79 Stoke - bought 31.42 - sold 20.65 - balance 10.77 Aston Villa - bought 58.96 - sold 54.07 - balance 4.89 Swansea - bought 69.56 - sold 66.63 - balance 2.93 Spurs - bought 190.4 - sold 201.77 - balance -11.37

Bet Liverpool make a profit on him
-
It does make sense. While it might be harder to sell on a match by match basis, the income from them is higher (well I think it is, but I am sure Pluto could tell us with all the A, B and C categories) than a Season Ticket. Also, while not explaining the 11,000 remaining, PL rule R.5.9 says "promote the availability of match tickets by reserving a reasonable proportion (at least 5 per cent.) of them for sale to non-season ticket holders". And of course there are the 10% reserved for away supporters, which I know you have taken into account. Anyway, I think it good policy to have more than the "at least 5%" available for non-STs as it gives more people to occasionally come to the games. The sell back scheme will also help with this.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20150714-season-ticket-availability-now-limited-2559160.aspx Over 20k sold with 400 ST's remaining.

My experience today..... Went on line and was told that the wait was 30 minutes. Closed and took the dogs for a long walk. Came back and the wait was 3 minutes. Booked and confirmed the ST seats very easily. All done. Then rang up the Ticket Office to change the status of the STs from over-65 as I look after them (and pay for them - sometimes!) for my old man who now has Alzheimer's. Changed to Adult without any fuss - esp as in Kingsland Premium there is no difference in price for STs but are for cup games. So experience with the Ticket office today has been 1st class. Not surprised there was a long wait online as soon as tickets go on sale, so can't complain about that.

As no one knows what conversation has or hasn't gone on, I suspect most of this is wild speculation. With the Fonte one, who knows, it might be as simple as a young Portuguese player wanting to move to a club with a fellow countryman in. Or it might be him asking a fellow countryman what the merits of living in the Southampton area are compared to living in the Stoke area. Now I know that I am biased, but I would choose here rather than there, not that I imagine Stoke being any worse than Southampton. And what do people imagine happens when these conversations take place? That for example, Lallana tells Clyne what Liverpool is like as if Clyne has never heard of Liverpool before? Most people know a bit or a lot about other companies in the same field as the one they work in, and football is no different. Woy - well, if he tells people that they should move to further their international career, then that is something different.
-
That vs.....http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/67/590x/584571_1.jpg And there they were, lots of supporters and all those ex-pro pundits (or lots of them) saying it's the off season and one should be able to let your hair down. You make your choices in life and you tend to get out what you put in, so thumbs up from me as well.

Do you understand the squad system? "Promising youngsters" aren't party to the squad system and you can have as many as you like (presuming you mean by youngster that they are under 21).
