DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan
angelman replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Our nº2 position is more "concerning" than our nº1 one. -
But the rule says that in the 25 man squad you are allowed 17 non-hg. Can't see much point signing English players if they are never going to play, just so the quota can be filled. Would be cheaper for them to have less than 25.
-
Player on England duty wasn't already leaving. Portuguese player was leaving and just changed destination. And was he tapped up, or did he ask a fellow Portuguese for his opinion?
-
And a signing on fee of what £1.5m +/-???
-
Yup QPR due 20%. Liverpool seen overly keen to spend all that they get in.

So if you know he only had a year left why compare to Long and why think it a sickener???????? -
Sterling or Euro? Presume Sterling.
-
Not accord to the Fail who say we offered £10m but that they want £15m. Who to believe?

Shaw & Morgan cost £1.3m or so. Sold for up to close to £60m. Madness. -
Rip off ticket prices to watch Dutch players. Typical club ripping off the fans. I'm only going to Cat C games if we sign Dutch (will think about what to do with ST later)
-
Is thus the same way Lyon thought us mad paying £8.5m for Lolvren?

Think by the look of things, that's already happened. -

£30m upfront and not sure I would mind too much. As that is not going to happen...... -
Not sure I would have him back. He made his choice let him live with it. Might be cutting ones nose off.....
-
But we also lost out on Buttner ?
-
Presume that we get on quite well with Celtic having given them £22m in the past couple of seasons.
-
Well maybe the loan fee we paid AM was the "deposit", so we got his services "free" for the year (excluding wages).

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3156791/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-agrees-three-year-deal-Manchester-United-Bayern-Munich-prepare-midfielder-s-exit.html Has to be true if it is in the Mail. So what future does Morgan have? Wants to stay in PL and only sign for CL (guess we'll see if that is the case soon enough). Chelsea seemingly have no interest. Man City neither (which I find strange as they are trying to sing as many HG players as possible) Man Utd, might still come in Arsenal seem content with Coquelin. -
Bit like Lallana and all the other badge kissers who jump ship as soon as more money comes about. They had an interesting thing on talkSport the other day, and they were talking to the ex manager of some Champ or L1 and they all agreed that nearly all transfers were about money. Not the chance of CL or playing more, money. Sterling moving from Pool to City is about money. He is almost guaranteed to start all games at Pool, but not at City. Delph the same. These guys love money more than playing football.

Us? Not me gov. I for one, and there are others, do not take the word of a footballer as gospel, and said on that thread, that it really was up to him who he signed for regardless of what he had said in the past. The club was in a tricky position of having to take the player at his word and hoping that is the case. Us supporters can be a whole lot more sceptical and see hollow platitudes for what they were. And then he has the gall to come out with complete bolhocks thanking RK and the club for making him a footballer again and how grateful he is. Seemingly so grateful that he is happy to flip us the bird and sign for another team. Can't work out whether something was lost in translation or whether he is the typical thick as 2 short plank footballer. I tend to think for some reason that over seas footballers are more intelligent than our home grown ones, but really, I have no idea or justification why that should be so.

All fans are deluded, pretty much to the same extent. Some are deluded due to past glories (eg Liverpool, Spurs, Portsmouth etc) while some aren't because they don't have past glories (eg Saints).

Angelo Ogbonna - Another player we have missed out on
angelman replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
Ah the Daily Mail. When you want to have a meltdown you believe it, otherwise you treat it with contempt. You state "if true" - the operative word is "if". -
Sh!t. You're right. What to do? There's Liverpool to support - bit far but there will be a lot of recognisable faces in the squad. Don't like Brenda though, and the fans speak a funny language, and I would stick out a bit. (Always find it funny when Liverpool fans phone in, like the one yeasterday, who had a broad Dorset accent). Manchester - well City seems more for the locals, so Utd is an option. Big stadium. Morgan likely to be there. Big club. The biggest in the country. Can phone in radio stations with a non-Manchester accent and blend in much more easily than the Liverpool situation. Arsenal - now that there is a definite option. 3 ex Saints. They play in red and white. Nice stadium. Much more civilised than Spurs. Chelsea - easy to get to, until they move out. But Chelsea is full of people from Surrey and Kent, and I just don't like them. Naff spivs. Arsenal are preferable. So it's a toss up between Arsenal and Man Utd. Maybe I can have one as my favourite and one as my 2nd favourite.
