Foul by Wolves, do you mean?

Stephens going walkabout as usual I see.

Consistent with the team that started or the team that finished (and won) ?
-
We don’t have to play everyone. That’s the opposite of consistency.

More pity than laughter I believe.

Take a look at “Position of Maximum Opportunity”. “The term was coined by football manager Charles Hughes, who based his philosophy on statistical analysis. Hughes believed that 87.1% of goals are scored from five passes or fewer“

Yep. Just you. ”Exciting payoff” and “slower tactical buildup” don’t go together. It’s pedestrian football.

You must be joking.

If Carlsberg did motivational speeches… 😉

To be honest I’d rather have my keeper making no saves and keeping a clean sheet.

There’s a whole article by James Gheerbrant in The Times today about Russell Martin “Why Gary O’Neil and Russell Martin are prioritising style over results” I won’t paste the whole article because of copyright issues but here’s a paragraph: “And yet, oddly, they have found themselves this season facing similar complaints: an enervating inflexibility, a lack of urgency, playing as if to some ulterior objective besides scoring. Wolves and Southampton have, respectively, the highest and second-highest percentage of backwards passes this season. In the dying seconds of their game against Manchester City, trailing 1-0, and with the 6ft 7in striker Paul Onuachu freshly introduced, Martin’s team opted to take their last free kick short and were still tapping the ball among themselves when the final whistle blew.”

I did click on your profile and to be honest I was really aim my comments at RTW Saint who only joined a matter of days ago. I’m bitter because this style of football makes me bitter. It’s selfish and suicidal. It’s some sort of style but it’s not stylish. I won’t be sadly missed by anybody near me since they won’t be going either.
-
It was also aimed at RTW Saint.

All I see is bad defending. Two of them almost collide with each other.

It’s an agenda (don’t. just don’t). Why now?

Is this three different people or just Nigel Farage?

Cascarino is by no means a ‘fan’. Can you please point out one thing he says that is incorrect? And there is so much else in what you write that bears no resemblance to what I witnessed last Saturday. “Opposition’s midfield stranded” for instance. And if you think that high possession means defensive solidity I’ve got a portfolio of bridges that you might be interested in.

I have been away for a couple of days and suddenly up pop some new posters saying how wonderful and entertaining this alleged ‘style’ of Martin’s is. Now whatever else I might be and despite what some people might think of me the one thing that I am not is stupid. Please just be honest and tell us why you have registered for this forum and who you represent because I cannot believe the tripe that I am reading here. Like many others I have played in, refereed and watched several thousand games of football and this pretentious crap that we are being served is as tedious, boring, soporific as anything that I have ever seen. It will never achieve what you think it will for reasons that you won’t want to hear but have been expounded on here many times over. It’s just not football. It’s a vanity project that nobody wants to look at. Please just go and take it somewhere else. Don’t expect me to continue paying to watch your ego trips. Oh, and one thing more. In no way have we been unlucky. We have got exactly what we deserved. Maybe more than we deserved. Who the f**k are you?

The UK National Grid is not aligned North-South. No, I didn’t know that either. https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/three-norths-where-are-they-now -

And Edinburgh is further west than Cardiff. -
Tony Cascarino in The Times today, If you ask me now which teams are going to go down then picking one of them is an easy answer — Southampton look destined for the drop — but the other two are harder to call. Southampton We’ve said it before this season and we will say it again — but tactically they are too inflexible. Their centre backs touch the ball far too often, they have no way of lifting a siege and for Cameron Archer up front it is going to get very frustrating. I know from personal experience from playing in teams where possession is scarce; you have to live off scraps, crosses don’t come in, the ball isn’t played in to you quickly and if you don’t take the few chances you get that’s it. Southampton aren’t going to blow teams away at this level. What worked for you in the Championship isn’t going to work up here. Some people think what Russell Martin is doing is admirable. I just think it’s deeply flawed. Key man Aaron Ramsdale — some of the saves he made on Saturday were spectacular. They are going to need a lot more performances like that this season, and even then I don’t think it’s going to be enough.
