The social contract has been broken and this can't wait any more. The Earth needs a massive paradigm shift, and attempts to get the world's attention have so far failed, so things like this have become a necessity.

You're probably right, but it would very much depend on who you ask and where. In principle, I'm not against the idea. If it's going to happen anyway then I would much prefer the UK to be part of it, rather than a minor little nationalistic island on the outside that's thrown its toys out of the pram.
