Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
Sheaf Saint replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Really? From what I saw, Bednarek was much more calm and composed, with only one dodgy moment where he lost possession in a dangerous area. JV might have won a few headers, but aside from that he was an accident waiting to happen for the entire match. He got dispossessed numerous times, and it was obvious that Cardiff were targetting him as a weak link. -
Yep I agree. McQueen at least looks physically more like a real footballer, whereas Targett is just far too lightweight and slow. He gets brushed off the ball too easily and he's scared to put in a tackle. He made it so easy for Mendez-Laing to get past him time and time again yesterday. it was pathetic and painful to watch. The only time I have ever seen him be even slightly effective is when he played as LWB with Bertrand behind him on the left of a back 3. But I doubt very much we will see that system from RH.

I never want to see Vestegaard or Targett in a Saints shirt again. Bother of them were L2 standard at best today. I don't think I have ever watched a Saints team make so many individual errors in one game. If we had been playing Man City today they would have got a rugby score. Might have been a different story if the ref hadn't been such a useless pr!ck and given us at least one of the two blatant penalties, but that would have flattered us. We were woeful in defence and ineffective in attack. Don't recall their keeper making a single save. I didn't expect us to look immediately better under the new manager, but I also didn't expect us to put in our worst performance of the season by a country mile either.
-
F*cking ell ref? That's another stonewall penalty not given!!
-
Yay. JWP coming on. Just what we need when we're chasing a game and need some inspiration.
-
Only a matter of time before one of our CBs' howlers lead to a goal. Absolutely unforgivable, that.
-
Do we have anybody else who can play LB on the bench? Targett has been absolutely woeful today.
-
WTF are these pundits on about? He deliberately left his leg in to trip Armstrong. Penalty all day long!
-
Got to be a pen that surely?
-
Fair enough. But I still think we would be looking much better overall with him in there in place of JV.

I'm at a loss to know what Stephens did to deserve to be dropped. He was our best defender for the last two games. This back four, against a better side than Cardiff, would have let in 3 or 4 by now. Vestergaard has been atrocious, Targett has made a handful of howlers and gifted them chances, and Valery will be very lucky not to get a second yellow the way he's going. Going forward, we don't seem to have any plan or shape when attacking. Not getting in behind at all, and our best chance fell to Lemina who really had to do better with the time and space he had. Ralph really has got his work cut out to get this lot playing like a team.
-
Valery is a red card waiting to happen.
-
Yet another absolute howler from Targett to gift them another chance to attack.
-
Both CBs looking incredibly shaky today. I feel a bit sorry for Stephens really. Last few games he has looked the best of our current options so he will be disappointed to have been dropped today.
-
Terrible from Targett there, but great recovery from Bednarek.

And on top of that, we now find that Arron Banks' firm that was responsible for the biggest single political donation in history to Leave.EU has no address... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-46460194?__twitter_impression=true It's pretty clear now that the mandate to leave is crumbling.

You say that, but he did play one delightful through-ball to Gabbi last night, who unfortunately made a total hash of controlling it. But aside from that, JWP's overall contribution was poor. He's just too lightweight. Watching him and Targett marking Kane and Dier at set pieces was literally like watching men vs boys.
-
No it won't. He joined in Jan 2017. Shortly before the cup final.

If you think the answer is 4, you are wrong. https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=YMUola6pDnkC&pg=PT1217&dq=race+social+construction&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=race%20social%20construction&f=false "A race is a grouping of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into categories generally viewed as distinct by society.[1] First used to refer to speakers of a common language and then to denote national affiliations, by the 17th century the term race began to refer to physical (phenotypical) traits. Modern scholarship regards race as a social construct, that is, a symbolic identity created to establish some cultural meaning. While partially based on physical similarities within groups, race is not an inherent physical or biological quality."

If you had asked me last week when the reports were coming out that we had no plans to sack Hughes, my answer would have been a resounding 'yes'. As it is, I can't possibly say until I have seen how much difference - if any - the new manager can make.

Mate... please, pleeeeeease go and educate yourself.

He knows where the net is and has a decent shot on him, and if you give him a chance in the box he is far more likely to score from it than any of our other profligate lightweights. That much is true. But his ability to find that space for himself in the box is severely hampered by his lack of mobility, which has only got worse since he joined. Add in his inability to hold the ball up and bring others into play, his overall contribution to the team this season has been very poor.

He was the best of a bad bunch tonight, but he is still a long way from being at the level we need if we want to get back to being a top half club.
