Nicholas Lyndhurst says Only Fools & Horses would never be made today
Sheaf Saint replied to TopGun's topic in The Lounge
But this also discredits your argument. I went to see this film the other week and while it was certainly amusing, it was not a patch on the earlier big-screen efforts from Pegg, Wright & Frost. Spaced remains one of my all-time favourite comedy series, but if they tried to revive it now (which will thankfully never happen because Simon Pegg and Jessica Hines have fallen out big-time) it would inevitably be a mere shadow of how good it was. Of all your other examples, the only one that (to my mind anyway) is still as funny as it ever was is Peep Show. -
What's wrong with that? He's right. For the most part during that spell we did play some good stuff. It was individual errors that cost us rather than overall poor team performance.

I take your point about Maya, but I think playing alongside somebody of the quality of Lovren will boost his game, in the same way that Lundekvam became a better player when he had Killer as his CB partner.

Living in Yorkshire I never get to home games these days, so I don't have an account nor will I be able to buy a ticket if they are prioritised (which I assume they won't be for an early-round league cup game against lower-league opposition) Does anybody know if it will be possible for me to buy a ticket on the night for the away end? I can't find anything on the OS about it.

Would be interesting to hear what the rest of the squad think about his signing. Have any of them tweeted anything about it? I don't use twitter myself so I don't know.
-
No it wasn't. The game was, overall, lacking in clear goalscoring chances from both teams, but it wasn't a scrappy, untidy game by any means.
-
Which is a big poke in the eye to all those who said he needed a full pre-season to start showing his potential. He looks to have worked on his set-piece delivery at least - the one corner he put in today was decent.
-
I'm not saying he had a bad game. Far from it, he looked better than he did for long periods last season and we kept a clean sheet so our CBs obviously both did their jobs. I just think that Maya is the better option and should reclaim his place, that's all.
-
Not sure about that. He looked the one most likely to slip up and leave an opening for WBA today I thought. A few hacked clearances put us back under pressure and I reckon Yoshida should be first choice alongside Lovren based on his form towards the end of last season.

5th in the table!

Great result. I thought we faded badly in the second half and we were lucky to get a penalty because we didn't really look like creating much. Cracking save from Boruc near the end to deny them an equaliser. Overall I thought our defence looked a lot more solid than last season but we seemed to sit back and invite a lot of pressure from WBA at times - didn't see much evidence of the high-press today. Wanyama and Lovren look to have added some real quality to the side. Only real weak link today was Fonte with more than a fair share of sliced clearances that put us in trouble. Still think we need another striker though.

Penalty!

Don't know if it's just coincidence but we seem to have lost our shape a bit since Gaston replaced Lallana.

Gaston coming on

Got a bit lucky there.

Brilliant tackle from Loveren. If that was Hooiveld it would have been a penalty
-
He hasn't really been properly tested by their winger down that side yet, but he looks confident on the ball.
-
Not entirely sure who the linesman thought was offside there. Lambert looked level when the ball went in initially, and Lallana was clearly on.
-
What on earth was Boruc playing at there?
-
Already we look better than we did at any stage during our two games against them last season.

What about Carlton Palmer?

I personally thought that was the worst of the 4 TNG films. The plot was rubbish and the terrible attempts at humour made me cringe in places. Despite popular opinion and it's obvious failings, I genuinely thought Nemesis was a better film, though First Contact was probably the best of the four. As for The Final Frontier, what an awful pile of ar$e-gravy that was. I still haven't seen Into Darkness yet, and given everything I have read about it I'm not sure I want to. It was bad enough in the 2009 film that Abrams had torn up 40-odd years of Star Trek tradition and sullied the franchise name with a big, dumb space action movie. All the evidence suggests he has taken that one step further with Into Darkness.

I don't hate Fox at all, but I do have eyes, and what I saw of him last season was enough to convince me that if it becomes necessary for him to have a prolonged run in the first team this season then we can kiss goodbye to any chance of a top half finish because he will cost us a lot of points.
