Was really looking forward to actually getting to watch for the first time this season, given our form, and this is what we get served up? I hate to say "I told you so" about Holgate, but he really is poor, even at this level. A CB pair with him and Bednarek is a disaster waiting to happen. Add in the fact they have a keeper behind them who can't save a fucking thing that isn't straight at him, and we can kiss goodbye to a promotion push.

Stopping that shot from going in is the very lest a competent keeper would do. A half decent one wouldn't have palmed it right back into the danger area.

Just seen the replay of the 2nd and despite the deflection, Baz should still have saved that. It went through his hand, like so many shots do.

Not for want of trying though. We tried to do a deal for Roberts, and when that fell through late on we tried to hijack the transfer of the Villa lad to Hull. So it wasn't an outright untruth when RM said Tella would be replaced. He just could have worded it better to avoid nitpicky people on Internet forums taking him literally and using our failure to do a deal as a stick to beat him/the club with

But we knew they were leaving at that stage. Or at least JWP and Lavia anyway. So to say they were making the squad stronger when it was inevitable they would leave is erroneous. Their replacements may not be man for man as high level, but the important thing is they want to be here. And in Tino's case, we still have a better player in his position in KWP. So a squad with slightly lesser but motivated players is, IMO, stronger than one with talented individuals whose heads are elsewhere.

I'm sure Che will, because he's a good lad with a great attitude. Not sure about Kamaldeen though

Exactly. We might have had more talented individuals 2 months ago, but they were part of a squad with a losing mentality that had just been relegated. The squad most definitely wasn't greater than the sum of its parts at that point. Early days still, but in terms of cohesion, motivation etc... I'm inclined to believe that the squad as a whole is probably stronger now than it was then.
