Good to see our midfielders actually tackling for a change but the ref is pretty card happy so they need to be careful.

Last year our local council consulted on some proposed changes to the roads around our area, because the road we live on is used regularly as a rat run between different parts of the city and we have problems with knobheads racing up and down our hill at very dangerous speeds. The plans were opposed because of the knock on effect the road closures would have on surrounding roads, and rightly scrapped (even though my road would have been closed to through traffic, it would have caused problems on other local roads so I objected myself). The council then decided to take the cheap and easy option of putting up some 20mph signs on our road. It hasn't made the slightest bit of difference, because it wasn't people driving at 30 that were the problem. And the people who blatantly ignored the 30 limit seemingly don't give a shit about the 20 limit either, so we still have just as many dickheads hooning up our road like they are trying to set a lap record at the Nurburgring. I really don't think it's necessary to roll this out everywhere.

Well, it's correct in that we have had one red card shown in a match so far. Whoever compiled that table either isn't aware that it was subsequently overturned, or they have just chosen not to take that into account.

And this has been an issue for us realistically ever since Koeman left. It still is now, despite us dropping down a level and playing against much weaker opposition. For years and years now, regardless of who the manager is/was, our players have been stuck in this mindset of stopping, slowing down attacks, and giving the other team the chance to regroup and reset, then passing it aimlessly around in a semicircle until either hitting a long-range shot (usually straight at the keeper or into row Z) or giving it away and then being outnumbered on the break.

Which was then rescinded because it was ridiculous.

FWIW, this was precisely my thought process when people started calling for Nathan Jones to be sacked after 4 or 5 games. It didn't take much longer to realise that no amount of time was going to turn him into a competent PL manager though. I'm not seeing anything from Martin, either in his team selections and tactics or in his post match interviews, that gives me even a glimmer of hope that our current situation will improve under his leadership.

Enough now. This guy is clearly out of his depth. To take this squad of players and get them performing so ineptly takes a special kind of incompetence. There is nothing - not a single thing - about our setup/tactics that gives me any encouragement that things will come good. Every team in the league now knows exactly how to beat us and they don't even have to play well to do it. The last 4 games have been men against boys, getting overrun in midfield and defence time and time again, and losing to an aggregate score of 12-2. When we go behind, which we inevitably will because we are totally incapable of keeping clean sheets, teams just sit back in an organised shape and know that we won't have any idea how to break through and score. We created next to nothing today - against a team with only a single point all season so far. No more excuses. No more 'patience'. Martin was a piss poor appointment and needs to be relieved of his duties and replaced by someone who actually understands the basics of winning games in this division.
